well… that was quite the semifinals for the lady draw… my jaw may still be on the ground… but, alas we have two new finalists…

Paolini took three sets to take out the unseeded Vekic… I had the sound turned down and there was a LOT of emotions on the court… at one point, Vekic was crying… honestly, no clue what was going on… but, at the end the Italian did leave the Croatian in tears and moves on to her first Wimbledon final after reaching the finals of the French Open…. Please note that she has never won a grass court match until this year… so… that is something crazy about her making it to the final… 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(8)… and Krejcikova ousts #4 Rybakina, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to make it to her maiden Wimbledon Final… Now remember that Krejcikova did win the French Open back in 2021 and she is a protege of Jana Novotna who finally won Wimbledon in 1998 after losing in the final in 1993 and again in 1997… So, maybe this is her year… either way, we will have a good match… and there will be a LOT of smiles in the end… no one picked either of them to the final because, let’s face it… why would you? #6 Vondrousova and defending champ is out in the first round to Bouzas Maneiro of Spain 6-4, 6-2… it seemed that there was a leg issue which wasn’t being talked about until the very end… there seemed to be something bothering her, but in the end… she lost… #8 Zheng of China is out to Sun of Australia… again… Zheng has had a couple of good results this grass court season… but, maybe a bit longer in the cooker… #22 Alexandrova didn’t make it to the tournament and was replaced by a lucky loser Zarazua of Mexico.. she lost to Raducanu… so, yay for the former US Open Champ… let’s see if she can actually put a tournament together, shall we?#24 Andreeva is ousted by Fruhvirtova… this little Czech player is very good… she is 17… so a LOT of time to grow… She has a sister… as does Andreeva… speaking of… the sister got #3 Sabalenka‘s spot… who had to withdraw due to a shoulder injury… she was replaced by Andreeva and she won… so… Yay her… #16 Azarenka withdrew and was replaced by Jacquemot of France… and Stephens picks up the win due to the withdrawal… #29 Cirstea is out to British player Kartal who qualified… so… that is how they all dropped… sorry about it…

Hsieh (Taiwan) and Strycova (Czech Republic) raise a trophy with their winof 7-5, 6-4 over Mertens and Hunter… I could not be more over the moon for the two of them… both working very hard to even get into the tournament due to ranking… and then, TAH DAH!!!

It was a great tournament overall, even with the rain… I mean COME ON!!! They even postponed it a whole week… There are other winners… blah blah blah… go look them up… it does include a few British wins… so the only person who cares about that is Rob… so… go get those scores…

Good Day to you all… and the lady’s final is set! and the rain came in and washed the spider out… I believe all the matches were finished and tomorrow is the big “rain” day… so, we will see how the Men’s Semis and the other matches at play will work… should be fun and interesting… wheelchairs in the mud… get your AWD on boys and girls…

Svitolina v. Vondrousova… Svitolina felt the pressure of the moment… she even says so in her tell all book which you can find on Amazon… just kidding… don’t look, I made that shit up… But, Vondrousova played an OUTSTANDING first set and took it 6-3… the Czech player went up 4-0 in the second set and then she started flailing… she couldn’t serve… she hit the ball out and the Ukraine came storming back to level it on serve 3-4… Vondrousova broke Svitolina at 15-40 and had another difficult service game but was able to get over the line for a 6-3 finish on the first match of the day… Her second final on a very different surface… one clay… one grass… and she has a final at the Olympics (Silver)… not a bad career and she is still pretty young… She just turned 24…

Jabeur v. Sabalenka… this match did NOT disappoint… and it was a very similar score line to the match Jabuer just finished… It was pretty even in the first set… no breaks of serve although they both had opportunities 1 for Sabalenka and 3 for Jabeur… and we went into the first set tiebreaker… 17 winners and 21 unforced for Sabalenka versus 13 winners and 5 unforced errors for Jabeur… and guess who got it… based on that, you are wrong… Sabalenka 7-6(5)… Sabalenka won a total of 50 points in the set to Jabeur’s 46… not a lot of wiggle room… but, in a tiebreak, it only takes one point… Set 2 comes and Sabalenka breaks in game five at love to take the lead… She holds and goes up 4-2… then Jabeur returns the favor in game 8 to even it up at 4-4… Jabeur holds and then goes up to 5-4 on her own serve and breaks at 30-40 on Sabalenka’s serve… YES!!! oh… I am trying to remain unbaised… one set a piece… It is 3-2 with Sabalenka serving and POOF… out goes the ball and Jabuer moves up to 4-2… Jabeur holds for 5-2… maybe one of the longer games of the match and Sabalenka holds for 3-5… and Jabeur had some opportunities with a match point… Then Jabeur serves for the match… She went up 40-0 QUICKLY… it looked like Sabalenka was just going to give it to her.. then 40-15, 40-30… then ACE for the match!!! Jabeur served 74% first serves in for the match… 28 winners and 14 unforced… Sabalenka had 39 winners and 45 unforced… it was a fantastic match… and the only thing that was different from the scoreline in the match for Rybakina v. Jabeur was that the score was 6-2 in the third…

These were both good matches… and we will see how Vondrousova handles herself in the final… Jabeur seems like she is ready… she was crazy cool in this match… waiting for her opportunities… SOOO EXCITING!!! Maybe the first African Woman to lift a major trophy in Tennis… We have had a Czech or two… so, you know who I am rooting for… I would venture the rest of you are well behind the Minster of Happiness… but, maybe you’re a very sad person who doesn’t like to see history happen… so… you enjoy that… and your crusty bread…

All of that said just solidifies that Kresimir DOES claim the championship but only by a small margin… Len is solidly in second and Rob… yes you… you are THIRD… (let’s all say it… LOOOOOOOSSSSEEEEEERRRRR) – he would have said it to me had Ms. Sabalenka made it to the final… TRUST!!! I want to give a special shout out to Tai who competed in her first bracket… She didn’t complete the men’s draw… but here is to hoping she will come back for a US Open at the end of August… Dan… you made some good picks… but they just didn’t pan out… and you are miserable last… I still like you… and this doesn’t effect your ability to play the game… MUAH!!!

Oh and by the way… we do have another set of champions… The mixed doubles finished today with Pavic (Croatia) and Kichenok (Ukraine) raising the trophy over Vliegen (Belgium) and Xu (China) 6-4, 6-7(9), 6-3… Yay for YOU!!!

Here we are… at the semifinals! Impressive how they have squirreled away the rain just enough to know they can finish the singles finals… the boys and girls… still at the quarterfinals… the doubles at the semis and the finals (mixed) and the wheelchair group are at the semis… so, I think they are going to make this happen! Friday is a rainy RAINY day… so… likely indoors? Well… for the day… we have finished all the quarterfinals… and some of us are done with our draws… we don’t have a finalist… and we don’t have a winner… two of us do in the women’s draw… but, more on that later…

#4 Pegula was taken down by Vondrousova 6-4, 2-6, 6-4… was a great match and the former French Open finalist just locked in a break and then held her nerve and her serve for the match and booked her ticket to the semifinals… and she will play Svitolina who laid it DOWN and took the first set 7-5… dropped the second set 6-7(5)… and out of the park with a 6-2 final set against #1 Swiatek… no one had that pick and almost all of us had Swiatek or Pegula to the final… so… guess what… that is gone… on the bottom half… we have Jabeur who in three sets 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1 takes out #3 Rybakina… ouch… for her and for your draw… that means… only ONE opportunity awaits for Peter and Rob… and Sabalenka does take down #25 Keys… 6-2, 6-4… the only two set match… so, let’s see…. which one of these ladies is going to take home a trophy… Sabalenka is the only one who has a trophy (AO 2023) and two have been finalists… Svitolina has been to a semifinal before… but has yet to crest into it… Svitolina is just 5 months out of having a baby… 5 fucking months!!! Well, we have successfully avoided the rain… at least for the Men’s and Women’s singles… and good luck to the rest of you chumps… no roof for you… All that said… it has been a rather subdued experience… now that all the Brits are gone from the singles… everyone can relax and we can see how the rest of the world plays tennis… yes, I know… it is exciting to feel that energy… but Wimbledon has always had the tradition of quiet clapping… kind of like a tree falling in the woods with no one around… did it make noise… probably… Swiatek dropped the first set and then took the second and the third… 6-7(4), 7-6(2), 6-3 against #14 Bencic of Switzerland… I honestly thought that Bencic had her… she was up a break and then got broke back (mountain)… a similar experience for #19 Azarenka who won the first set 6-2 and looked good against Svitolina the… 6-4 and 7-6 in the tie breaker for the third set… 11-9… It was a LOT of nerves… you have a lot riding on this match to the quarterfinals… Svitolina fighting to maintain a spotlight for her country and Azarenka pushing to her former glory… both of them mothers… and such amazing respect for one another… no handshake at the end… but acknowledgment… raise of the racket and nod of the head… the crowd seemed to not understand… so they booed Azarenka as she left… ummm… no handshake doesn’t mean no respect… I was a bit upset at Svitolina for not taking a moment to express anything towards Azarenka and say… hey… we didn’t shake hands and she is respecting me and my wishes… so, make sure you understand… don’t boo… yuck… Pegula was quickly over her hump of Tsurenko of the Ukraine… 6-1, 6-3… Tsurenko didn’t look terrible… but, she wasn’t the same player who knocked out Bogdan 20-18 in the third set tie breaker… Vondrousova takes out a fellow Czech #32 Bouzkova in three sets… 2-6, 6-4, 6-3… and Jabeur gave us a master class on grass… sheesh…she demolished #9 Kvitova 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-3 in 1 hour and three minutes… eek… and Rybakina ousts #13 Haddad Maia in a retirement at 4-1… There was quite the controversy on the Keys v. Andreeva match… the 16 year old got a warning… then she fell and apparently her racket left her hand… the chair umpire stated she threw it and she claims that she didn’t… it is at the discretion of the umpire; however, that must have been fun to watch… anyway… Keys through 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2… one point will never make a difference in a match… but when you’re 16… the world is very small… Sabalenka needed an hour and 11 minutes to take out #21 Alexandrova 6-4, 6-0 (BAGEL)… and that is your lady’s draw quarterfinalists!!!

Alcaraz starts us off with a win over Berrettini 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3… fun score… and Rune needed four also to oust #21 Dimitrov 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(4), 6-3… Medvedev got a retirement out of Lehcka of the Czech Republic after playing 2 sets 6-4, 6-2… and Eubanks (nice pick Kresimir) takes out #5 Tsitsipas 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4… he has such a difficult serve to read and to return… We will see how Medvedev attempts to solve this American problem… Sinner over Galan 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-3… Safiullin over #26 Shapovalov of Canada… 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3… we really never know what we are going to get from the Canadian… he is hot an cold… he has flashes of brilliance… and then… poof… Rublev in just over 3 hours takes out Bublik 7-5, 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-7(5), 6-4… lastly we have Djokovic who needed four sets and two days to beat #17 Hurkacz of Poland… 7-6(6), 7-6(6), 5-7, 6-4… a small hiccup… but, maybe the wheels are coming off a bit… I am hopeful…

I am sure you have heard… but, in case you didn’t… #11 Auger-Aliassime is ousted by Mmoh in four sets… Mmoh was a lucky loser and drew the Canadian and then took him down 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-4… #13 Coric is also out… the Croatian lost to Pella in five sets 6-3, 7-5, 4-6, 3-6, 6-1… #20 Bautista Agut takes a bow and leaves the grass court with a loss to Safiullin 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-5… #22 Korda is out of the tournament… this American was talking some SMACK and it bit him in the ass CRACK… I should be considered one of the favorites, after making a deep run at Queen’s Club… a semifinal losing to Alcaraz… here… he lost to a tough low level player… Vessely 7-6(7), 4-6, 6-2, 6-3… I don’t think he was being an asshat about it… but, just keep your trap shut until you actually make it… and even if you believe you should be part of the conversation… make sure you have something to back it up… a first round loss at Wimbledon is your fate… shhhh… #28 Griekspoor takes a loss to Fucsovics… 6-4, 6-2, 6-4… I mean the Nederlands has never smelled so bad… enter #27 Evans… he played alright… but that is a face only a mother can love… ugh… Halys looks really good on grass… so happy I picked him… ahem… 6-2, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4… #24 Nishioka couldn’t make it though his match against Galan 6-4, 6-3, 6-3…

#7 Gauff has an early exit to her fellow American Kenin in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2… the velosorapter was stomping around and yelling in Russian… so irritating… I like that tenacity… just focus it… don’t let it run you… Masarova over #31 Sherif of Egypt 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(6)… Siniakova over #24 Zheng of China 6-3, 7-5… Bogdan beats #15 Samsonova 7-6(1), 7-6(4)… #18 Pliskova got knocked around by a qualifier Stevanovic 6-2, 6-3… usually a great surface for the Czech player… I hope there is not more injuries on the horizon… maybe she needed the money for her surgery… starting rumors NOW… #27 Pera of the USA is also a loser today being ousted by Tomova 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-3… and last, but CERTAINLY not least… #8 Sakkari takes a beating after giving a first set beating… 0-6 (BAGEL), 7-5, 6-2 to the Ukrainian Kostyuk… nice call Dan.. Now, if you listen to reason and know about Muchova… if she is healthy she can beat anyone… she also plays her best tennis on grass… so… hence my selection… I thought others would be with me on this… Swiatek has never made it passed the fourth round at Wimbledon… so, that is a pretty steep set of stairs to climb… she is tough mentally… but put a grass court player in front of her and watch her melt down… I only took her that far, because I knew most of you would… so, it is a strategy move… My favorite duo for the finish is Kvitova v. Pegula… I LOVE IT!!! Some of you… yawn…

We all know this turns on a dime… Kresimir is so good at round one and sometimes that sustains some momentum… but, in the end… he is back in the bushes gobbling dicks… so… that is how it goes… but, for now… we see how it is… Tai is currently in miserable last… but only by one point… she made some solid choices that just didn’t pan out in round one.. but, watch out… she has some good selections… Len and Peter you are both at the bottom of the men’s draw… but as stated above… it means NOTHING… fat ladies are not even close to warm-ups yet…

Well, the match happened and with an amazing display of power and ball striking… #17 Rybakina the Russian playing under the flag of Kazakhstan… but, they did their best to remove the Russians from the tournament and then one sneaks into the final and takes the trophy… She was born in Moscow… so… nice job Wimbledon… She took down the Tunisian player #3 Jabeur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2…

Men’s Doubles winners #14 Ebden & Purcell of Australia… over #2 Mektic & Pavic of Croatia… 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(2)…

Boys winner is #3 Poljicak of Croatia over Zheng of the USA 7-6(2), 7-6(3)… #1 Hovde of the USA over #7 Udvardy of Hungary 6-3, 6-4… The American duo of Gorzny & Michelsen over France’s #5 Debru & Inchauspe… The girls doubles was won by Nijkamp of the Nederlands and Okutoyi of Kenya who took out the #4 Canadian duo of Cross & Mboko 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(9)…

Wheelchair singles #1 Kunieda of Japan over #2 Hewett of the UK 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5)… #1 De Groot of the Nederlands over #2 Kamiji of Japan 6-4, 6-2… Wheelchair doubles #2 Fernandez & Kunieda of Argentina and Japan respectively over Hewett & Reid of the UK 6-3, 6-1… and the Lady’s Doubles have quite an amazing shift change with Kamiji of Japan & Matthewson of the USA over De Groot & Van Koot of the Nederlands 6-1, 7-5… that’s a nice thing to see… I like a change! In the quad wheelchair singles we have #2 Schroeder of the Nederlands over #1 Vink who is also of the Nederlands 7-6(5), 6-1… and the doubles was won by #1 Schroeder & Vink of the Nederlands over #2 Lapthorne & Wagner of the UK and US, in that order… 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-3…

#1 Djokovic overpowered Krygios of Australia… now, how many of us believed that Kyrgios could actually win… right… none of us… but, he did take the first set 6-3 before dropping the next three 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3) and Djokovic lifts his 7th Wimbledon trophy and his 21st overall… So far, he cannot compete in the US nor Australia… so, that will be a bit of a challenge for him… but, he is getting closer… and hopefully, others are getting closer to beating him… LOOK at all the hope…

We will finish with the women’s doubles where #2 Krejcikova & Siniakova take down the #1 Mertens & Zhang 6-2, 6-4… They lift their first crown here at the Championships at Wimbledon… well done…

For you… nothing changed in the Lady’s Draw… Kresimir did not get points for the winner, because the winner wasn’t someone he chose… damn it…

As promised, If Djokovic raised the trophy… Kresimir would not win… and that came true… so did the latter…But, Eric picks up the win by being in the lead of the people who chose Djokovic to win… so… there we have it!!!

If you didn’t already see this then… well, enjoy your rock… Djokovic takes down #9 Norrie of the UK… There are no questions about who was more dominant… Djokovic won almost every stat on the board… less more winners and less unforced errors… better serving percentage… bigger ace count… less double faults… more net points won… two stats which Norrie was better at… percentage of break points won… 75% to Djokovic’s 36% and distance covered, but not by much… score was 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4… I was hopeful until the second the second set started… and as a reminder… Djokovic of Serbia will face the unseeded and sometimes unhinged Kyrgios of Australia… Should be a fun one!!!

Kresimir is still in the lead… but with a Djokovic win over Kyrgios… Eric, Len & Peter will all go over him and the rest of you will be after that… and in that scenario… Eric wins the Men’s Draw… just a fact… Steve in his maiden voyage of sin… receives a trophy for miserable last… yes… it is an honor and privilege to be the last one… just don’t do it again…

And we have to have a short ceremony for the winners of the mixed doubles… Krawczyk of the USA and Skupski of the UK win the mixed doubles championship by beating the doubles team from Australia of Stosur and Ebden… 6-4, 6-3… that is a tough loss, but this is also a double win for the American/British duo and they won it last year… so… not so bad… and the first time a defending champion team has won since I think 1996 and 1997 when the Czech sibling duo of Cyril Suk and Helena Cukova… I know… where did I pull that out of? Yes.. my ass… congrats to the pair and many happy returns next year…

Women’s SEMIFINALS… well… it was quite the first match up on court… Jabeur taking down the German Maria and mother of two young girls… one of which she had one year ago… that’s quite amazing and congrats to her for making it this far and to Jabeur for being the first African into the final of a major… it is very exciting and she did it in three sets and 1 hour and 44 minutes 6-2, 3-6, 6-1… I see that Jabeur won 68% of her second serve points next to Maria’s 53% (and the fact that Maria had 45 second serves next to Jabeur’s 38) and had a better winner to unforced error count… 37:28 vs 20:22… so, here comes Tunisia… and she will face… Rybakina who knocked out the last former champion of any major in #16 Halep… Halep got no help from the court… Rybakina pounded the serve and the ball and really never got her footing in the match… it was kind of like watching the 2019 final when she took out Serena… bang bang… she lost in two 6-3 sets… the Romanian hadn’t dropped a set up until the semis and then she just didn’t win one today… Rybakina had only 12 second serves for the match and Halep had 29 of which she only won 11… eek.. and Rybakina won 7 of the 12… Halep played a CLEAN game which only shows you that Rybakina took every chance… winner to unforced errors… they both had 16… Rybakina had also 16 unforced errors next to Halep’s 6 errors… the match finished in 1 hour and 16 minutes… and we are on to the final… Another newly crowed lady for Saturday… and a BUCKET of nerves for both of them… should be fun!!!

Now, in other news… #2 Nadal has pulled out of the semifinal match against Kyrgios… so, Kyrgios is going to the Final against the winner of the Norrie/Djokovic match… and well… either way, that is going to be a BATTLE… There are no points here at Wimbledon… but there’s bragging rights!!! So, buckle up for the only Men’s semifinal for tomorrow…

On the Lady’s Draw… everyone gets 20 points except Len… who sits in miserable last… looking very cute… I hope you will recover… The women’s draw is still a shit show… but it appears at least ONE of us cracked the code… this time… Kresimir can still pull further ahead with Jabeur lifting the trophy…

You would think that I would be prepared for anything… but right now… doing math… that is HARD… and not cute… but, I think I figured it all out… all the particular situations for the Men’s Draw… and if it is wrong… you will learn about it later… and I can always pull out my paddle and give y’all a bunch of whacks… that might settle you the fuck down… Remember, it’s tennis…  so… keep it classy…

Halep was on court against #20 Anisimova and although at the end Anisimova was getting her game together… it was too little too late… she looked confused and anxious… didn’t think her game plan through and fell to the onslaught of the Romanian… The American is going home with a 6-2, 6-4 victory for Halep… in one hour and four minutes… contrasted with the other match where Rybakina takes out the Australian Tomljanovic 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 1 hour and 50 minutes… there was a lot of hard hitting on this match… but it all came down to winners… 34 for Rybakina and 14 for Tomljanovic… you have to win points people… that is the name of the game… So, we have #16 v. #17 on the top half… and #3 v. unseeded player… sounds like fun…

Kyrgios took 2 hours and 13 minutes to take out Garin of Chile… Garin does have a lovely head of hair… I hope he doesn’t go bald… that would be sad… right? oh, wrong group… 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(5)… it wasn’t really a tight match… this match seemingly came down to break points saved… Garin was 50% and Kyrgios was 89%… when you have serving as a weapon… yes, it can help you… Nadal and #11 Fritz went on for 4 hours and 22 minutes… five sets… and a fifth set tiebreaker… it was intense… and there were ups and downs… but in the end… Nadal managed the win… He is tenacious player… so much grit… he fights for every point… it is amazing to watch… I have never been a Nadal fan… until the past couple of years… he is the epitome of passion for the sport he plays… seriously it’s an honor to watch him… and I am glad I have come around… 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(4)… and we have #1 v. #9 and #2 vs. unseeded player… yes… sounds a bit familiar…

and for you… well Peter is the only one who picked up points on the day… so YAY Peter… he is still in second place… and the standings will not change…

On the men’s side… there are so many options… Dan and Kotonias are frozen… because they do not have a pick to the final who is left… so they are going to be sorted based on how the rest of you selected… and how they do… Steve… there is NO scenario in which you will not be miserable last… so… that sucks… here is a prize for you… oh wait… my grab bag is empty… but, I am sure we can work something out… call me… here is what you all have presently:

and today happened.. let it be… comes after letter a… let it be… it is kind of crazy we’re here…. in the middle of no where just waiting… is this purgatory? I didn’t wear clean underwear… damn it…

Jabeur took down Bouzkova in three sets… now mind you… it was a tougher first set than it looks… but 1 hour and 48 minutes and BOOM… the Czech is going home… 3-6, 6-1, 6-1… Maria needed 2 hours and 18 minutes to take out her fellow German Niemeier 4-6, 6-2, 7-5… and Jabeur and Maria are good friends apparently… well, if you saw the match… they talk very fondly of one another… if this was the 1800s I would believe they were lesbians… but, it’s not then… but, maybe? These both went the distance and that was no exception for the men’s draw…

Djokovic took two sets to warm up and then three sets to take out #11 Sinner… It was interesting to see how lost the Serbian looked in the first two sets.. and the Italian couldn’t string together points at the end of the match and it ended… like it began… in the void… 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in three hours and thirty-six minutes… sigh… someone please beat him… and his next opponent also went all five for the win and that is Norrie who takes out Goffin of Belgium… this was a tough match up… it was really good points played and Norrie was lucky to come out on top… 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5… Three hours and twenty-nine minutes… so… about the same… and we will see in two days time if that has any effect… likely not… so… off we go to you…

EVERYONE but Len picked up 10 points for Jabeur… no other points were distributed in the lady’s draw… so… Kresimir continues his winning and the rest of you move forward… again… no more points on the game other than Halep for Peter (10 points) and the Jabeur points everyone gets to the final except Len (20 points)… and then Kresimir gets 30 more if Jabeur wins… and it is going to be an interesting day tomorrow… who will be in that final? Someone new, for sure… but will it be two new people? That is the question…

There is still SOOOO much more that can happen on the Men’s side of the draw… Nadal gets through… everything can shake up… that is 20 points for Eric and Rob… if Nadal wins… then… Rob gets 30 points more… the rest of you… if Djokovic makes the final that is 20 points for Kresimir, Rob, Steve Eric, Len, and Peter… if he wins… that is an additional 30 points for Eric, Len, and Peter… SO… who knows… the options are endless… but, I will figure out scenarios when we know who advances next… how does that sound? excellent… time for your nap… oh, and Kresimir is in the lead again… you’re welcome…

and tomorrow we will know the winners and losers of the final four matches… and we will be one step closer to crowning a champion… with no points in the ATP/WTA ranking system… because, someone feels so terribly for the Russians/Belarussians… fuck them… they will steal points anyway… right Boris and Natasha? And we are heading into the final stretch… the quarterfinals are set… and the people are waiting to find out just WHO will win! Nadal needed only three sets to take out #21 van de Zandschulp of the Nederlands 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(6)… Nadal was up and serving for the match when van de Zandschulp broke back and held for 5-5… Nadal took him to task in the tiebreaker… Nadal will face Fritz who took out Kubler of Australia 6-3, 6-1, 6-4… Garin needed five sets to send off #19 de Minaur 2-6, 5-7, 7-6(3), 6-4, 7-6(6)… and he will face Kyrgios who took out Nakashima of the United States… 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-2… seemed there was a bit of an injury… but not really… we like playing games…

Tomljanovic over Cornet of France in three 4-6, 6-4, 6-3… this was an AMAZING match… I mean, they were slugging the felt off the ball… it was just waiting for someone to make an error… and Cornet did her best to play the injury game as well… although, it seemed she might have a tinge of an injury… but, she came out for her mixed doubles match… and, they lost… but… she was still on the court… Anisimova needed an hour and 14 minutes to take out Tan of France… 6-2, 6-3… and a good tournament for the player from France… who sets up a clash with Halep who took out #4 Badosa in straight sets… in exactly 1 hour… 6-1, 6-2… Rybakina rounds out the top eight with he win over Martic of Croatia 7-5, 6-3…

Well, I am declaring Kresimir the winner of the women’s draw… just a fact… Everyone has Jabeur to the final aside from Len… Peter is the only one who has Halep through to the semifinals and that will give him 10 points and put him into second place for sure… but, he cannot catch Kresimir so… suck it Peter… you get second with Dan taking third… This also means that Eric can pull himself out of miserable last with Jabeur winning just one more round… but, she faces Bouzkova… so… who knows… well, we all will tomorrow!

We have a new leader on the Men’s Draw… Dan has snatched that crown from Kresimir’s head and banished him to the underworld… ok… not that dramatic… but it is a very tight contest at the top… and well the bottom is showing his ummm… well… you call it as you see it… and it is a very nice bottom… Steve… he is in miserable last… and is likely to remain there… this is his first tournament with us… if he sticks around… I am sure he will figure things out… He still has points to gain, but they are in tandem with most everyone else… although… Dan and Kresimir are ripe for a plucking because they don’t have Nadal advancing any further… so, this is going to get interesting… It has been lovely at the top… but, I see the shift happening… and I don’t like it… oh well, it is just a game… keep your panties on…

So… it is still a lot of people’s game… Djokovic and Nadal go out.. then this is pretty much over… If Norrie wins his next round… Kresimir will take over the lead again and Kotonias will be in second… if Nadal makes the final against Djokovic… ugh… this will be a squeaker win for Eric and possibly Rob… so… we shall see… it can be a LOT of people’s game… Quarterfinal Tuesday… coming up next…

Let’s start this off right… Jabeur took out #24 Mertens 7-6(9), 6-4… it was a hard fought contest and the Tunisian was too much for the Belgian… Niemeier over Watson of the UK 6-2, 6-4… not too much to say there… it was over and done… a bit of nerves from the German near the end… but she got it done… Maria takes out the fiesty #12 Ostapenko… I mean her and Kyrgios should get together and have a baby… those two and the drama… 5-7, 7-5, 7-5… Bouzkova over Garcia of France in what I learned was a masterclass in tennis… 7-5, 6-2… and the bottom half of the Lady’s Draw is set… no grand slam champion left down there… and only ONE left on the top half of the draw…

I was hoping for a tighter contest but, the World number three, Djokovic, took down van Rijthoven in four sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2… I think had he just settled a bit after winning the second set… he would have gone deeper in the match… but it was expend that energy and well… he fizzled… bye bye to the Dutchman… and Sinner over #5 Alcaraz in four sets… 6-1, 6-4, 6-7(8), 6-3… Spain… you’re mother is calling… Norrie took down #30 Paul of the USA in three sets… 6-4, 7-5, 6-4… Paul was trying way too hard for the highlight reel and Norrie was playing textbook tennis… so, that is what the score line reflects… Goffin played some great tennis to take out the American and #23 Tiafoe in five sets 7-6(3), 5-7, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5… it was a 4 hour and 36 minute match… one hour more than the Sinner/Alcaraz match…

For you… well… for the lady draw… we all got 5 points for Jabeur… so… yay everyone… and in the Men’s you either got 5 for picking Djokovic… or you got 10 because you had Norrie or Sinner to move forward AND Djokovic…

Ok… this was a SLAUGHTERING!!! Your bracket… the draw… it was like a kindergartner class on a lazy Tuesday in Ulvade, TX… no… too soon? Too bad… OK… so here is how it all went south…

Kyrgios over #4 Tsitsipas of Greece 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(7) and we move on… Nadal needed three sets to oust #27 Sonego of Italy 6-1, 6-2, 6-4… Fritz over Molcan of Slovakia 6-4, 6-1, 7-6(3)… de Minaur over Broady of the UK 6-3, 6-4, 7-5… Kubler took five sets to take out Sock of the USA 6-2, 4-6, 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-3… Nakashima over Galan of Columbia 6-4, 6-4, 6-1… van de Zandschulp over Gasquet of France in four sets 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-1… Garin in four over #29 Brooksby of the United States 6-2, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4… and so… that wasn’t so bad… #4 and some lower seeds out… but wait for it…

Badosa takes out #25 Kvitova in straight sets and she kind of looked a bit surprised… 7-5, 7-6(4)… and the Czech player is out… Martic ousts #8 Pegula of the US 6-2, 7-6(5)… Cornet takes out the #1 Swiatek… yep… all your hard work of putting the Number one player in the number one winning position did NOT pay off… so, you’re welcome… 6-4, 6-2 and the Polish player is going home… Rybakina over Zheng of China in 7-6(4), 7-5… Anisimova over #11 Gauff 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1… and the all American clash only left one American standing… cause… that’s how tennis works… only one winner… Halep over Frech of Poland in straight sets 6-4, 6-1… Tan over Boulter of the UK 6-1, 6-1… doesn’t feel so good today… does it? and last is Tomljanovic over #13 Krejcikova 2-6, 6-4, 6-3… and well… there is a nice piece of mincemeat pie…. DELICIOUS!!!

And while Kresimir is still in the lead… people are starting to creep and encroach on his space… well… in the Men’s draw… The Lady’s draw no one is getting very close… so… #sorrynotsorry… Dan is in second… and Rob is just barely holding on to third in the Lady Draw… Both Dan and Kotonias are closing in with a two way tie for second in the Men’s Draw and Eric is just back in fourth… EGADS!!!

Kubler (6-3, 6-4, 5-4)… de Minaur took out Draper of the UK 5-7, 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-3… Nadal over Berankis of Lithuania in four sets 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3… and it a short plane ride for you… well shorter than some… Brooksby over Bonzi of France… 7-6(3), 7-5, 6-3… #13 Shapovalov can take a seat as he is removed from the tournament by Nakashima in four sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(6)… Broady takes out #12 Schwartzman of Argentina in five sets… 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 (BAGEL), 7-6(6), 6-1… Garin over Grenier of France 6-3, 6-1, 6-1… one hour and thirty-four minutes… Thanks Berrentini… Tsitsipas over Thompson of Australia 6-2, 6-3, 7-5… and will face another Aussie in Kyrgios in two days time after he defeats #26 Krajinovic of Serbia 6-2, 6-3, 6-1… Sonego took out the very cute Frenchie Gaston 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-4… Gasquet is still out there after defeating McDonald 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3… van de Zandschulp over the Ruusuvuori of Finland in four sets… 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4… Fritz needed three to get past Gray of Great Britain… 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-3… Molcan over Giron of the USA 6-3, 6-2, 6-4… and #17 Bautista Agut is out due to COVID and Galan gets the walkover… so… that isn’t fun…

and well… it is all over… the matches the grass and the crowds… we don’t know where the next tournaments are going to take us… over the river and through the woods… The Olympics are coming and there are a LOT of players dropping like flies… Even Djokovic said… I cannot bring my stringer… REALLY!?!?! you cannot bring your stringer??? how awful for you… what a cad… it’s The Olympics… yes, it is going to be different… and it needs to be different and we as a society need to adapt… but, you don’t want to go??? Great… we don’t want to see you there… ok… back to Wimbledon… speaking of assholes… Djokovic raises the trophy after dropping the first set in a tiebreaker… 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 over Berrettini… he fought, a bit… but the Serb overwhelmed him on the court… I don’t even want to get into the very ego driven speech at the end… yawn… you will never be a GOAT if your a jackass… because people have to like you… and giving a kid a racket at the end… that only wins over a family who has your back already… there is no graciousness… you’re time on court is marred by your antics and immature behavior… no picture for you…

Australia takes home the trophy on the Lady’s Draw… and well… not Australia… just an Australian… because it is an individual sport… it is the person, not the COUNTRY who gets the trophy… Barty fought hard against the hard serve of Pliskova who only got 6 aces in the end and Barty served up 7… WTF?!?!?! crazy… 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3 for a title hold… Barty was +1 for winners to unforced and Pliskova was -5… so… that is a big stat for the match… but… what a match and yay for Barty to win her second major…

Ladies Doubles champs are Mertens and S-W Hsieh the third seeds who overcame Kudermetova and Vesnina 3-6, 7-5, 7-9 to win the trophy for this draw…

Men’s Doubles resulted in Mektic and Pavic the number one seeds taking the trophy from the #4 seeds Granollers and Zeballos in four sets… 6-4, 7-6(5), 2-6, 7-5…

Mixed doubles was taken by Skupski of the UK and Krawczyk of the USA… over two Brits Salisbury and Dart… Krawczyk won the French with Salisbury and then she took down her partner at Wimbledon to win her second major… she is FIESTY!!! I love it…

There was other tennis but I am going to wrap this up before work… so… suck it… you have a phone and the internet… figure it out… Pornsak WINS the Wimbledon… he selected 11 aces and Kresimir chose 12… We did the aces for Pliskova because we both chose Barty to win… 8 aces… and 2 sets… it was Barty, 7 aces and three sets… so… that didn’t work… I sent it to Rob for fairness and look.. the better man won… Peter takes miserable last… (I did the recount… #sorryaboutit)

Now… for the men’s draw… Len wins with Kresimir in second… Eric takes home miserable last… but with quite a large number over the winner of the Lady’s draw…

And here we are nearing the end of a long road.. and a hot summer… only 80 today… YAY for the PNW!!! Berrettini needed 2 hours and 37 minutes to defeat #14 Hurkacz… I would venture that 22 aces from Berrettini vs. 5 from Hurkacz is a pretty decent indicator as to the score line of 6-3, 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-7(3), 6-4… also the break points of 6-10 vs. 0/2 is a good indicator to who won… but with 60 winners and 18 unforced… someone will get a challenge on SUNDAY!!! Hurkacz was 27 winners to 26 unforced… so, someone was blown OUT of the grass court today… and Berrettini will face off against Djokovic who took out #10 Shapovalov 7-6(3), 7-5, 7-5…. the Canadian took an early break and then Djokovic rolled into the tiebreaker… Djokovic had 8 aces to Shapvolov’s 5… but with 3/10 on break of serve to 1/11 it just wasn’t enough in a two hour and forty -four minute showdown… these kids are just not ready yet…

FOR YOU!!! it is over… you will get points IF Djokovic wins… all of you… and that is a total of 30 more!!! But Len is the winner by 4 points over Kresimir… Pornsak taking third, then Rob by ONE over Peter and in miserable last… it is Eric…

Good DAY to you… I hope you are all basking in the warm weather of summer or at least not dying… hydrate, hydrate, hydrate… it’s not too warm today in Seattle… enjoyable and temperate… the courts at Wimbledon are HOT HOT HOT… first on court today was Barty who sent #25 Kerber packing in three sets 6-3, 7-6(3)… Kerber is a fighter, but so is Barty… after dropping her opening serve in the second set Barty clawed her way back to even and got into a tiebreaker then totally overwhelmed Kerber with shot after shot to make her way to her first Wimbledon Final… Barty served up 8 aces and 4 double faults to Kerber’s 3 double faults and 0 aces… the key to the match was Barty’s 38 winners to 16 unforced errors v. Kerber’s 16 winners and 23 unforced errors… and we have our first finalist at 2021 Wimbledon… the other match for today was one where Pliskova took down #2 Sabalenka in three sets 5-7, 6-4, 6-4… they both served INCREDIBLY… I swear it was like a gladiator match… these amazing players put on a SHOW!!! very different from the cat and mouse match previous… it was all power… all the time… Sabalenka served up 18 aces to Pliskova’s 14… but just because Sabalenka got her racket on the ball didn’t mean she could do anything with it… Sabalenka had more only 3 more unforced errors but 6 more winners… so, it came down to 2nd serve points won (69% for Pliskova and 48% for Sabalenka) and break point chances 2 of 10 v. 1/1…

and that stops the lady’s draw OFFICIALLY… now… I have consulted with the Judges… but the final decision is mine… and mine alone to make… the winner of this year’s Wimbledon is… a TIE… yes, there was some counting shenanigans… and well… Kresimir and Pornsak both had too many points… and then ended in a tie at 130 points a piece… so… that means… I will select the amount of aces I believe the winner of Wimbledon will get and Pornsak will also make that selection and send it to me… so, who will win, number of aces that person gets AND how many sets… The winner will be determined based in that order… Rob is OFFICIALLY in Third Place.. so bronze for you… and Peter is miserable last… #sorryaboutit

and now, here we stand… with (checks hands) nothing in my hands… but… it was a GREAT day for tennis and we are here to applaud the winners and celebrate those who took second place today… fuck that… loser… Djokovic rolled on Fucsovics of Hungary 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and seventeen minutes… contrast to that Shapavalov who took out #25 Khachanov in five sets 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 in three hours and twenty-six minutes… Hurkacz took down #6 Federer in one hour and forty-nine minutes 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-0 (BAGEL)… and Berrettini took down the #16 Auger-Aliassime in four sets 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 in three hours and four minutes… so… that is how it all went down…

And this is how it ends… Len wins, no matter what… nope, no one has points which can surpass… unless I have counted incorrectly… which I will send for a recount, just to be sure!!! Kresimir can LEAP ahead to second place if Berrettini makes the final round… and the rest of you stay in place because we all get points for Djokovic win, lose, or draw… so… how do you like those apples???

so… Lady’s Semifinals tomorrow… starting with Barty v. Kerber – then Pliskova v. Ok… so, it is now set… here we go… Lady’s quarterfinals are done and the semifinals are SET!!! but first for a bit of bookkeeping… #2 Medvedev is taken out of the tournament by Hurkacz 2-6, 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3… and what a match it was… Medvedev looked to be ready to knock the Polish player from the tournament; however, not enough energy on day two of the match… and he goes out in flames… and I do hear your sadness and well… someone seems a touch happy about it… and no, it isn’t you… it’s KRESIMIR… he has Federer to make it to the semifinals, so there was a bit of celebrating this morning… I think I am still drunk…

Ladies… start your engines… and here we go… Sabalenka took her firepower to the next level today against #21 Jabeur… it was some impressive serving and ground strokes which took her over and above her opponent 6-4, 6-3… and well they were all straight set victories!!! Pliskova sets up a meeting with the #2 seed with her victory over Golubic 6-2, 6-2… now… mind you the seeds haven’t been there for Pliskova… but the non-seeded players she has beaten are very good… Zidansek, who is 47 in the world… Vekic who is 49 in the world… and Samsonova who is currently 65 in the world but just won a very big tournament on grass this year… so… that is some impressive players to knock out… Kerber over #19 Muchova 6-2, 6-3… and Barty over Tomjanovic 6-1, 6-3 which sets up the battle of the bigs (6′ and 6’1″) and the smalls… (5’8″ and 5’6″)… let’s get our David and Goliath ON!!! One Major for Barty at the French and Three for Kerber (Aussie, WImbledon & US Open) and NONE for the tall ladies… maybe this year!!!

Well Manic Monday is over… well… one match left out on the court… you know #itsrainingmen… Medvedev and & Hurkacz are still out there with Medvedev leading 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-3, 3-4… Djokovic is through with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 over #17 Garin of Chile… Fucsovics over #5 Rublev 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-3… Khachanov needed almost four hours to complete his win over Korda of the United States 3-6, -4, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8… Shapavalov over #8 Bautista Agut 6-1, 6-3, 7-5… Berrettini over Ivashka 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 and done…. Auger-Aliassime over #4 Zverev in five sets and four hours, two minutes… 6-4, 7-6(6), 3-6, 3-6, 6-4… Federer took down #23 Sonego 7-5, 6-4, 6-2 in two hours and eleven minutes… so, you can see it is a bit different for time spent on Court…

wow… just wow… some of you are doing VERY well on the men’s side of the draw… impressive… almost all of your quarterfinal picks still remain… on the lady’s side of things… eh… not so much…. some of you haven’t even crossed over the 100 point marker…. you’re getting closer… and well, there are NOT a lot of points left to gain… there is still a LOT of talent left in the pool… and we shall see who will live to slay another day… Barty wasn’t perfect on the day, but did enough in a two set victory over Siniakova 6-3, 7-5… she should have taken the match 6-4 but dropped her serve and had to pick it up on the other side… she sets off a face off with Krejcikova how out lasted Sevastova of Lithuania 7-6(1), 3-6, 7-5… Raducanu comes out of the third round to make the fourth here at Wimbledon taking out Cirstea 6-3, 7-5 and three minutes longer than the world #1… Tomljanovic over Ostapenko 4-6, 6-4, 6-2… Badosa over Linette 5-7, 6-2, 6-4… Muchova over #16 Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-3 which is the REVERSE of two other match scores… odd… and that is the ONLY Lady seed which dropped today!!! Gauff over Juvan of Slovenia 6-3, 6-3 and Kerber takes out Sasnovich who took out Serena 2-6, 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-1…

Men’s Draw was much more civilized… or was it??? Berrettini quickly through in three 6-4s… over Bedene… Ivashka over Thompson in three 6-4s… hmmm if that happens again… I will say Jinkxs… Auger-Aliassime lost the first set 2-6 and righted the ship 6-1 before Kyrgios took a seat and retired…. so… that wasn’t the same… Zverev needed four sets to take out #31 Fritz 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(4)… Federer also needed three sets of 6-4 with the third set going to #29 Norrie 5-7…. so, not quite the same… Sonego over Duckworth 6-3, and a double 6-4… Hurkacz over Bublik quick quick quick… 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 and an hour and 24 minutes… unlike the 3 hour and 36 minute match Medvedev needed to take out #32 Cilic 6-7(3), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2… phew… I am tired just thinking about it…

SO… where do you stand today… well Kresimir is still in the lead… I think he is cheating… but I need the receipts!!! and it all looks good on paper… Pornsak is hot on his tail… but will he catch up??? so… it is late and I am trying to catch up… my god what a circus… I am in the middle of watching Wimbledon matches and mix that up with Drag Race whatever and you have a very devilish cocktail… want a sip??? Surprisingly EVERYONE has Djokovic to take the title and everyone BUT Kresimir has Medvedev to the final… Kresimir took the Italian Stallion… so… who’s it going to be??? I don’t know if I feel like writing… everyone who knows me, knows that I love the herstory writing… and I really wanted to see it… I didn’t enjoy the match because it was SNATCHED!!!

Halep v. #11 Serena – I have not seen someone play like that… ever… 3 unforced errors and 13 winners… run… run… smack… run… run… WINNER!?!?! amazing playing by the Romanian… if you live under a rock… we will have to await the 24 we all know Serena should get… I don’t see it happening in New York… but… these girls are getting it… the power is there… yes… but the consistency isn’t… the match was over almost as soon as it began… Halep is queen of the All England Club… and what a sweet victory it was… there were very sweet and kind comments made by both of them about each other… 6-2, 6-2 was the scoreline… up 4-0 in the first set and Halep executed her plan like a CHAMP!!! I know some Romanians and they are, I am sure, very happy… and I am happy for Halep… she deserved the trophy…

Bautista Agut – now we all know that RBA beat Djokovic twice this year… at Doha and Miami… the match started EARLY… people… it was EARLY… Djokovic rattled off 3 games right off the bat… RBA holds and then hold hold and break again… 6-2… ugh… Set 2… Djokovic holds… then RBA Holds… then BREAK for RBA… oooh… this is getting good!!! hold RBA… hold Djokovic… hold RBA… hold, hold hold… 6-4… ONE SET A PIECE!!! Svitolina… now it took all of 23 minutes for the match to reach 2-1… Halep broke after 5 deuces in game 2… Svitolina broke back and then it was Halep all the way… 6-1… Set 2 was quick… I think only one deuce game… so… that was slam bam THANK YOU ma’am… and Halep knocks her way into the final at Wimbledon 6-3… 26/16 winners to unforced for Halep and 10/16 for # 8 Svitolina… good for you Elina… the BBC needs to talk to you…

Serena v. Strycova… now… if you saw the Konta match you know Strycova has game… just not today… I mean… Serena served well… moved pretty good and just whacked the ball… she wasn’t fucking around… both held their serve and Strycova was smiling after her first hold… and then… Serena x 5 games… and it was 6-1 in set 1… there were some chances… but Strycova just couldn’t produce anything with the amount of power Serena put on the ball… Set 2 was hold Strycova… hold Serena… hold Strycova… Serena to the finish line… 6-2… all of 59 minutes… I blinked and it was over… seriously…

Quarterfinals Day TWO – the boys… ok… well first we have to talk about Sir-ena or Murrena… either way… it was a fun tournament for the both of them… Serena and Andy went up against the #1 Seeds Melichar and Soares and were defeated in three sets… 6-3, 4-6, 6-2… I am sure they are happy with how it turned out and the fans most CERTAINLY got some enjoyment… I mean how many times does one get to see THAT?!?!?! exactly… never…  so, that was amazing…

It really wasn’t very shocking… I mean… anyone???

Goffin v Djokovic – Djokovic started off on Centre Court against #21 Goffin… it was an ok first set… nothing amazing… Goffin broke to go up 4-3 and then was broke back immediately, held and broke again to take the first set 6-4… then it was BAM BAM BAM plus three more BAMsand Djokovic had the second set 6-0… yawn… Djokovic holds… Goffin holds… Djokovic holds, breaks, holds to 4-1… Goffin holds… Djokovic holds and then breaks and the result is 6-2… was there a test… not really… 28/23 on winners to unforced for Goffin and 24/17 for Djokovic… not really great…

Pella v Bautista Agut – now first lets start off with a lesson which ALL the commentators should be paying attention to AND the chair umpires… there is WAY too much ignorance in the world and it just takes a second to look up how a name is pronounced… Guido is NOT the Italian gwi-do… it is gui-do… his last name, as per HIS pronounciation is Peh-lah… not Pel-lah… gross… likely even said Peh-sha in Buenos Aires… don’t come for me…  Bautista Agut broke and held serve to go up 2-0 and was broke back in game 8 bringing it to 4-4… then held and Bautista Agut or RBA broke game 11 and held for the win 7-5… He repeated the first set by going up 2-0 and then just held it all the way out to the end of the set, taking it 6-4… not to be outdone, my little Guido goes up 2 breaks to 3-0 in the third set and smacked down the RBA for the third set 6-3… but that was to be the end for #26 Pella… it was a break in game four which gave RBA a boost and allowed him up and through to a 6-3 four set victory in 3 hours and 7 minutes… 42/35 winners to unforced for RBA and 46/51 for Pella… oh well… we have a Spaniard in the Semis…
Querrey v. Nadal – well this was another snoozefest… but I guess we’ll have to report… blech… I mean Querrey started off kind of like Goffin above… hold then Nadal hold and then break by Nadal and a hold.. Holy BALLS!!! that was AMAZING… what a DAY of Tennis… let’s start at the END!!! Williams/Murray v. #14 Atawo/Martin.. how fun to see these two out on the Court – HAVING FUN!!! WHEEEEE!!! they won the match 7-5, 6-3… but a JOY to watch… seemingly everyone was having a good time… well… accept the losing team… but they did smile… so… favorite moment… Serena smacked a ball right AT Martin and she apologized… then apologized again… and again and again…  watch out for the retribution…

Halep v Zhang… and the first set Zhang broke Halep early to go up 3-0… then 3-1, 4-2… then broke back to 4-3… 6-6… where Halep took the tie breaker 7-6(4)… Second set was 1-1… then 2-1… then break for Halep 3-1… 4-1… break again 5-1… and 6-1 match… great ball striking by Zhang… she hits HARD… ZERO margin… 22 winners and 29 unforced errors to Halep’s 17 winners and 13 unforced errors… moving on… Serena v Riske… now… you have to think at the beginning this is going to be EPIC…

Cori (Coco) Gauff, what a tournament was finally put to the test and although she took a total of 6 games, she was no match for the former #1 Halep in a take down lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes… 6-3, 6-3… we all knew it was going to end… but, at least Kresimir believed she could make it more than one round… not that it helped… 😐 Alison Riske keeps on PLUGGING away to the quarters after her knock down fight with #1 Barty… 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 and you are BACK from the land down under… it worked better in my head… oh well… KONTA kunta… what a MATCH!!! 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 with a hiccup in the third after being up two breaks, she takes out #6 Kvitova… Serena is back with a 6-2, 6-2 over #30 Suarez Navarro in an hour and four minutes… Strycova??!! over #21 Mertens in three, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2… Zhang took 1 hour and 46 minutes to take out the 19 year old Yastremska… 6-4, 1-6, 6-2… Svitolina looks like she can play tennis again… she defeats #24 Martic 6-4, 6-2… get that television station in England… yes, I said it… BEST match of the TOURNAMENT… I haven’t seen that many drop shots since well, I just haven’t… but relatively effective… Czech vs Czech… Karolina v. so it’s middle Sunday and I decided to sit back and relax… drink a pimms an have a bit of strawberries and cream for an afternoon delight… no t… all shade… but, now for the T in Tennis…

Querrey is through to the round of 16… that is impressive… he just re-joined the gang and makes Round Four… beating Millman 7-6(3), 7-6(8), 6-3… the we todd did racist is also through in straight sets over #12 Fognini 6-3, 7-6(12), 6-3… the Snow-Ho Snorter of Birmingham (Evans) is out to Sousa of Portugal… 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4… a little up… a little down… and back up again… Nadal needed only 1 hour and 48 minutes to knock out Tsonga… 6-2, 6-3, 6-2… Nishikori is 3 and done over Johnson 6-4, 6-3, 6-2… Kukushkin took four sets to knowck out #33 Struff 6-3, 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-5… Berrettini outlasts #24 Schwartzman in a four hour and nineteen minute five set match 6-7(5), 7-6(2), 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3… and he sets up a match against Federer who took a bit over two hours to know off #27 Pouille 7-5, 6-2, 7-6(4)… Pouille had a game plan and it was good in the beginning… seemed to be working and then that sweet French butt was put to the test and, well.. cya in New York…

Ash Barty needed 53 minutes to work over Harriet Dart of the UK… 6-1, 6-1… Riske needed all three and 2 hours 9 minutes to knock off #13 Bencic… 4-6, 6-4, 6-4… Serena looked much better today!!! impressed… 6-3, 6-4 over #18 Goerges… knocked her out last year in the semis… they meet again in round 3… Suarez Navarro takes down Davis in a pair of matching 6-3 sets… #4 Bertens takes a bow… yet again… losing to Strycova 7-5, 6-1… which unfortunately doesn’t set up the Bertens – Mertens match… but Mertens held up her end of the bargain over #15 Wang 6-2, 6-7(9), 6-4 in almost three hours… Konta over #9 Stephens in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win for the British #1… although she is from Australia and of Hungarian parents… It’s a DREAM for her… yawn… Kvitova over Linette quickly in 6-3, 6-2 straight sets… so… that is how that went down on Saturday…

Serena and Andy Murray played mixed doubles and won… just an FYI… I am sure if anyone got a viewing of that it was delightful… I did not… but listened on Radio Wimbledon.. such a chipper group… Anyway… that is how it is all set up… ready set… go!!!

Tennis on a Friday following the fireworks… my night ended with Whitney Houston singing the national anthem… and that my dears is winning… now…we move on to the tennis… and who are the losers of the day??? well.. this is the third round and where the seeds should be colliding… and well some yes… and some not so much… #4 Anderson is now headed back to the South Africa… and uh, the Iraq… Pella moves through 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(4)… #10 Khachanov is also out to Bautista Agut 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-1… #11 Medvedev is also out to Goffin in a five set 4-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5… they were all seeded too… so… yay… Djokovic has a small hiccup in the second set after taking the first 7-5 he drops the tiebreaker (5) and then rolls 6-1, 6-4… it is good to get a challenge… The world number one does not hide is frustration well… Verdasco wins over Fabbiano 6-4, 7-6(1), 6-4… Raonic took down Opelka 7-6(1), 6-2, 6-1… Paire takes down Vesely in four sets… 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-3, 7-6(2)… #19 Auger-Allisime dropped the first set to Humbert 6-4 7-5, and is down a break in the third to Humbert… and out in the third round is #19 6-3 in the third set…

#14 Wozniacki is OUT to Zhang of China… 6-4, 6-2… I tell you every year that Wozniacki is not good on this surface and YET… some of you LOVE to put her through further and well… it didn’t work out for you AGAIN!!! #20 Kontaveit is out to Muchova 7-6(7), 6-3… #31 Sakkari is out… well to be fair, she lost to Svitolina, so that was expected… Halep over Azarenka, which on paper should have been a good match… but the 6-3, 6-1 scoreline begs to differ… Pliskova over #28 Hsieh 6-3, 2-6, 6-4… Martic wins over the minion… YAY!!! 6-4, 3-6, 6-4… Yastremska over Golubic 7-5, 6-3… now remember that Yastremska played Serena at the Australian Open… she fell apart and was a MESS, but she has SO much talent and it is coming forward here… the last lady match is Gauff v. Hercog… Hercog took the first set 6-3 and served exceptionally well.. then she was up a break and was broke back… Gauff dug in and fought it out in the tiebreaker winning 7-6(7)… on to the third… Gauff came up with the first break and then she got nervous and got broke back mountain… then Gauff was serving AMAZINGLY well… love held service games and was in on Hercog’s game… 7-5 was the end result and she played SO well… now… well… Halep is next… good luck… and well… I see a spanking in her future… but, we shall see!!!

Happy day of Independence over those pesky Brits… yay America… fuck yeah… anyway… it has been some amazing moments of tennis and yes… more seeds have fallen… 18 of 32 seeds are left in the men’s draw… and 19 of 32 for the lady draw… that is ridiculous… more to come… more to come… so… what happened today…

#25 Anisimova is OUT of the tournament losing to Linette of Poland 6-4, 7-5… sigh… #5 Kerber is also out… she wins the first set 6-2 and Davis of the USA was hardly walking… she got her ankle taped and then Davis took it to Kerber 6-2, 6-1… I am sure she is super happy… she’s a TERRIBLE loser… TERRIBLE!!! Everyone else was fine… Barty over Van Uytvanck in straight sets… Dart over Haddad Maia 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1… Riske needed 9-7 in the third to remove Jorovic of Serbia… Bencic needed 1 hour and 10 minutes over Kanepi 6-3, 6-1… Serena dropped the first set 2-6 to Juvan of Slovenia… (that is where melania is from)… and then corrects it to reverse the score and then closing out the third 6-4… Goerges took down Flink in two sets… and well… you win Serena… now, that’s going to be a match up… Suarez Navarro over Parmentier in two tiebreakers… Bertens, like Serena, needed three sets to take down Precious… don’t get me wrong.. I LOVE TAYLOR!!! but she’s MY precious… 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2… BAM… Strycova over Siegemund 6-3, 7-5… Mertens over Niculescu 7-5, 6-0 (BAGEL)… Wang over Zidansek 6-1, 6-2… KONTA wins… not such a kunta now… she put down Siniakova 6-3, 6-4… Mladenovic tried… but failed against Kvitova… the Czech outlasts the Frenchwoman 7-5, 6-2…

For the Men’s Draw we have #31 Djere out to Millman 6-3, 6-2, 6-1… blastoff… #20  Simon losing in the fifth 8-6 to the we todd did racist… #13 Cilic is also out in three sets all of which ended in 4… British coke snorter Evans is over #18 Basilashvili in three sets… I guess some people can put down their straws for a moment of tennis… #25 De Minaur is out of Wimbledon for 2019 with a loss to Johnson of the US 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3… #9 Isner is out with a five set loss 6-4 to Kukushkin…  Everyone else is safe… you may join the other girls at the back of the room… Federer is through in straight sets… 6-1, 7-6(3), 6-2… a little fight in Clarke, but not enough… Pouille over Barrere in 3 sets 6-1, 7-6(0), 6-4… Schwartzman over Koepfer in three sets… Berrettini in 3 over Baghdatis… and this was Baghdatis’s last stand… how much joy from him and his magical run to the Australian Open in 2006 where he lost to Federer in the final… but, he is out… now… sashay away… Struff had a fighter in Fritz, but at the end of the day… Fritz falls in four sets 7-6(2)… now go feed the baby… Nishikori handled Norrie of the GB 6-4 x2 and 6-0… Tsonga over Bereankis in three… Fognini needed another 5 sets to beat Fucsovics of Hungary 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-3… Querrey continues his route on serve in a win over Rublev in straight set fashion 6-3, 6-2, 6-3… Nadal needed four to take down the VERY irreverent Kyrgios… he served 2 underhand serves… faked one… and took to target practice on Nadal at the net without raising his hand… the match was 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(3) to Nadal… afterwards Kyrgios stated he meant to hit him… he has multiple grand slam trophies… he has all that money in the bank… he can take a ball in the chest… I’m not sorry…  and that rounds out the bottom half of the second round of Wimbledon 2019… cheese for everyone… or, just heroin…
