And so it comes to an end… like all good things… and well, some things that aren’t so good… But, I think this was a pretty good tournament… it was a smaller group, but we got to know each other better… Not really, but it was still a nice time…

The women’s final was #1 v. #2 and #2 prevailed… Honestly, either one of them could have won and I would have been happy… but, Gauff, in 2 hours and 38 minutes took down #1 Sabalenka 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4…. Coco maintained her cool… Sabalenka went up and down on the emotional roller coaster and the American just kept putting balls into play… I think that win was served with a side of popcorn… Gauff was even with winners to unforced 30/30 and Sabalenka was 37/70… well… that is what I saw in watching the match… Good for you Coco… congrats… and to Eric, who picked that champion… very nice… puts you in a solid second place…

The men’s draw concluded also with a repeat of last year… Alcaraz needed all five sets to close out #1 Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2)… It was back and forth… Sinner had 3 chances to close out the match in the fourth set… but, he couldn’t make it happen… then served for the match, he couldn’t make it happen… so, Alcaraz did… A fantastic match… the second longest in the open era at 5 hours and 29 minutes… I also didn’t care about the outcome on this match… two amazing players out there doing amazing things… I saw such great tennis in person and great tennis on my television… it was magic… They both had less unforced to winners – but Alcaraz kept it just a little tighter in the end… 53 winners to 64 unforced… Sinner was 70 winners to 73 unforced… sometimes less is more…

There is LITERALLY no images of this year’s trophy and Alcaraz without images within it… so weird… Anyway… Kresimir did end up winning both brackets… and Phirman lost both… but, honestly… who fucking cares… it is just for fun… no money… I respect all of you and the choice you made… Just do better next time…

And there we are… tis the end… and the exact same line-up in both draws… Who saw that coming? Fret not little lobster… Wimbledon is around the corner… I hear revenge is best served on the grass… so, bring it!

And we are off to the finals… but, not before we discuss the semis… Quite the days of tennis… and so many exciting things to say about the matches… The first match on court was #1 Sabalenka v. #5 Swiatek… and the first two sets die NOT disappoint… Sabalenka took off in the beginning and it felt like it was going to be a runaway… but Swaitek settled into the match and took a deep breath and caught back up… the first set culminated in a tie-breaker with Sabalenka winning 7-6(1)… ok, the tie breaker wasn’t great… but getting to the breaker was… The second set Swiatek took 6-4… and so we were up against the final set… and Swiatek just went away… it didn’t really feel like Swiatek wasn’t playing good… it just felt like nothing was working and in the end, 6-0 (BAGEL)… It is interesting to note that even though she won the second set, there was a call (in) on a serve by Sabalenka which was long; however, the chair umpire said Swiatek took too long to challenge… It is true you have to be decisive and immediate… and, you won the set… so… you should have done better in the final set… but you didn’t and you’re out… that is how this game works… winners were exactly the same at 29 each; however, Sabalenka had 25 unforced errors to 42 by Swiatek… and well, that reflects the score… #2 Gauff took 1 hour and 9 minutes to oust the unseeded Boisson of France… it was short, sweet and to the point… Coco has been around long enough to know, don’t let the crowd get into the game… it happened with Pegula & Andreeva… she was calm and took the points immediately… 33 unforced by the Frenchwoman and only 15 by the American… 6-1, 6-2… done and DUSTED… it is number 1 v. number 2…

For the men, well… we started with a very exciting match-up of #2 Alcaraz v. #8 Musetti and Musetti took the first set 6-4… after a 5-4 lead, BAM, he took the set… the second set had a quick break by Alcaraz with a break back by the Italian… and ended in a tie breaker going to Alcaraz 7-6(3)… so, we are all tied up and we move to the third set and something wasn’t right… there was a battle, but it wasn’t a good battle and Alcaraz took the third set, 6-0 (BAGEL)… Well, the writing was on the wall and one bathroom trip and it was over in the fourth due to a retirement, 2-0 to Alcaraz… and #8 Musetti of Italy is out… Second match up was #1 Sinner v. v #6 AH… and well, it went as expected… There was a lot of fight in the Serbian player… but, not today Satan… not today… Sinner took breaks out of the first two matches and by the third it was a tie breaker, but the writing was on the wall… mini break and Sinner didn’t look back… 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3)… now you have all the speculating… Was this the last time you will see Djokovic at the French Open… I can clearly say, I hope so… but, who knows… his ego might just tell him to try again… yawn… But, the first time at the French Open since 1984 we have Number 1 v. Number 2 seeded players in both draws… so… that was what most of us selected… and here we are…

For you… well, I am sure you know… Kresimir will clear the wins in both categories… but, Gauff could win and Eric has that prediction… that will pull him closer… and Alcaraz is most people’s choice… so, he could also make it more interesting for you… but, end of the day… brass tax… Kresimir does take the victory… #notsorryforamoment…

There you have it… Roland Garros is almost complete… So happy I was there to see some of it… Beautiful red clay ad two more days of tennis before it is all concluded… Good luck to number one and number two… we shall see who prevails…

I know, I know… some unexpected twists and turns… but, it is the French Open and it is likely the most difficult of all the surfaces… the bounce on the clay keeps the ball moving upward and slows the trajectory… You cannot hit through the court as much… That isn’t to say that it cannot happen… but the force to move forward and then slide and back up… it takes a lot of physical strength… Some players make it look so effortless and others… well, they wear it on their face… Now… what happened… We shall start with the Lady’s draw… Sabalenka takes almost 2 hours to oust China’s #8 Zheng… this is no easy feat considering that Zheng won the Gold Medal on Phillipe-Chatrier just last August, beating Swiatek in the semis and then Vekic in the gold medal match… the 7-6(3), 6-3… Sabalenka kept her unforced errors to 18 to Zheng’s 31… Sabalenka kept her first serve percentage to 65% to Zheng’s 57% and second serve points won at 68% to Zheng’s 39%… so, that just about shows you where it all went… Swiatek needed about the same amount of time to oust #13 Svitolina of the Ukraine 6-1, 7-5 and sets up a battle royale with Sabalenka… I think that Svitolina wanted to take a more aggressive approach and she really is better as a defensive player… they had almost the same amount of unforced errors, but Swiatek had 23 winners to 12 for Svitolina… and there you go… In 2 hours and 11 minutes Gauff knocks off #7 Keys in an American showdown… very tight first set 7-6(6) and then a break in the second set for Gauff to win 6-4 and then a bit of a blow out for the third 6-1… Keys had 25/60 winners to unforced and Gauff kept it 15/41… neither one is great… but, 60 is a rather large number… #6 Andreeva is out to the unseeded woman from France… I told you a bit about her VR rehabilitation… and she marches forward 7-6(6), 6-3 in 2 hours and 8 minutes… I personally don’t believe she would have won anywhere else in the world… The crowd was a bit unruly and I was honestly a bit annoyed… Andreeva is 17… I know you want your person to win, but look at the optics… just a bit… Jeering in the middle of first and second serves… it wasn’t good… Yes, I know it happens at the other majors… but, just cheer for good tennis and let them play… I could see that Boisson wasn’t too pleased either, until she won the match… Boisson has a great forehand… and an ok back hand… both her and Gauff are going to have to improve their stats and whoever does, will win on Friday… It will be tough for Gauff… but she knows what she is getting into… she has been on both sides of the coin… we shall see who makes the final… and who goes home…

The men’s draw is a bit more calm and soothing… yes, there is cheering, but it isn’t pointed.. Musetti takes out #15 Tiafoe in four sets… 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2… I was very impressed with Tiafoe in the match… he lost his first set and then two more of them for the tournament… but, he had a good solid performance and I hope to see more of him in this state… winners to unforced tell this story very clearly… 45/32 for the Italian and the American with 33/51, yikes… Alcaraz took 1 hour and 34 minutes to take out the other American, #12 Paul 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-1, 6-4… it seemed more like Alcaraz was playing with him… like a cat and mouse… Almost every stat was in the Spanish star’s favor… I mean… great match for the world number 2… Also, not much of a “match” was Sinner’s against Bublik who makes his first quarterfinal appearance… but in one hour and 49 minutes… well, it wasn’t enough… 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 (BAGEL)… and another situation where most of the stats were in the favor of the Italian #1… sigh… and he will face off against ass hat… who took down the #3 girlfriend beater… four sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4… unforced errors for GB was 44 and AH was 29… so… eh… whatever… GO SINNER!

For you.. well, not good news… with Andreeva out… that takes down the James’… they both had Andreeva to the final… but Kotonias does have Sabalenka to win… so there is a bit of a blessing for him… Phirman has nothing left to gain on the Lady draw because both Andreeva and Paolini are out (VERY good choices by the way)… just not in the cards :(… Eric has Gauff to win the whole thing and both Rob and Kresimir have Sabalenka to take the trophy over Gauff… On the Men’s side… everyone has Alcaraz to win except Kresimir who selected Sinner over Alcaraz… and everyone BUT Phirman has Sinner in second place… He took the GB… and he just lost… so… whomp whaaaa… sorry dude… not today… just not today…

I don’t believe that anyone can beat Kresimir… Anyone in striking distance won’t gain enough points… so, a race for second? Sounds fun… no? So… that was some exciting fourth round matches… well, some of them… ok… most of them were one-sided… so… yay… or, not yay… depending on your perspective… Musetti took care of #10 Dennis the Menace… ok… fine… Rune of Denmark… but he looks a bit like Dennis, so… I like it and it stays… it was three hours and 18 minutes of tennis and it was 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win for the Italian… and may I say, quite a handsome one… ok… well, I said it… He is going to face off against Tiafoe who took down Altmaier of Germany in straight sets… 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4)… Tiafoe took his foot of the gas near the end and I was like… oh well, here we go… but, he righted the ship and took it to the end… Paul and his baby ousted #25 Popyrin of Australia in a triple 6-3 win… key to that match seemed to have been second serves for the Aussie… he only won 11/30 which isn’t a great statistic when you are only getting in 58% of your first serves… Alcaraz needed four sets to knock out #13 Shelton of the USA… 7-6(8), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4… I don’t think it was so much about Alcaraz losing focus… Shelton just got better… then, he went away… looks like this one came down to winners and unforced errors… Alcaraz was dead even with 43 and Shelton was 32/47… that isn’t going to win a match, sadly… Sinner takes out #17 Rublev, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4… Rublev was trying… but, try as that little ginger might… he just cannot get a break… never made it to a semi-final… his ranking is slipping… and well, time is ticking… Bublik over #5 Draper in four… Draper took the first set 7-5 and then fell to pieces 6-3, 6-2, 6-4… there was a fight at the end… and Bublik was reverting to his normal quick to the service line and slapping the ball around… but, he crossed the finish line… and honestly, that is all that counts… Zverev got a retirement out of Griekspoor of the Nederlands… 6-4, 3-0… that sucks… I think that the Dutchman might have done some damage… the ass hat took down Norrie of the UK like a pair of undies on a clothesline… 6-2, 6-3, 6-2… now… three of the men have not dropped a set… ass hat… Tiafoe and Sinner… so, let’s see what happens next… Sinner v. Bublik… girlfriend beater v ass hat… Musetti v Tiafoe… and Paul v. Alcaraz… the men’s quarters are set… sounds exciting, yes?

Sabalenka took down #16 Anisimova of the USA 7-5, 6-3… Sabalenka beat the American in every stat but First Serve percentage, second serve average speed and net points won… so, that seems obvious as to why… Zheng bests #19 Samsonova in three sets, 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-3 – it was a pretty tight match… Svitolina upset #4 Paolini 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, well it is an upset, but some of us picked it… because… well, my guess is that Paolini was a bit tired after all that winning in Rome… not a lot in the stats that show a very clear winner/loser… Swiatek started off slow and then took down #12 Rybakina in three, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5… at the end you could see how much it meant to Swiatek… she hasn’t been her best and she is trying very hard to not drop too much further in the rankings… and this has been a tough clay court season for her… oh well, sucks to make millions of dollars for playing a sport… suck it up! Andreeva ousts the new Aussie, #17 Kasatkina 6-3, 7-5… 11 winners to 34 unforces kind of tells the story though… well, bye little lesbo from down under… #3 Pegula was bested by Boisson of France… It was a little less of the crowd and more the will of this girl… she has had a bit of a rough patch… she suffered a pretty bad injury and rehabilitated herself with some new technology… interesting read about her… anyway… she is pretty good… it will be interesting to see how she performs on other surfaces… but a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 result to the quarters for this Frenchwoman… Keys over Baptiste of the United States… 6-3, 7-5… I hope to see more of Baptiste… she looks good on clay… and Gauff over #20 Alexandrova. 6-0 (BAGEL), 7-5… Coco is very good on this surface… and we shall see if she has the goods to get back to the final… some of you thought she would… and she is knocking on the door…

I think that I need to attend all the tournaments now… I seem to have a good sense for things when I am in the location… although, I did make my picks in an airport in Dublin… so… who knows… Anyway… I hope you all are enjoying the tennis… Who knows what will happen next… you know… type at you tomorrow! And we have come to the end… yet again… and in true Paris fashion, it wasn’t too bad… no one got “hurt,” kind of… and some of those that did… can suck it…

The women’s final wasn’t too crazy… there were some moments of oh, this is going to get good… and then… meh… 6-2, 6-1… one hour and eight minutes to complete and Swiatek picks up her fifth title and her third Roland Garros trophy… 18 winners for Swiatek to 13 unforced and 7 winners for #12 Paolini to 18 unforced… so, seems to be an apt stat to bring into the mix… just not enough and the Polish player takes the win… and the trophy… and it looks like the lid stayed on…

On the Men’s side we have a new champion in Alcaraz who took five sets to take out #4 Zverev of Germany, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2… they both had a losing winner to unforced errors, but break points won… Zverev was at 26% and Alcaraz at 56%… so… I am guessing that is an active stat to think about… Alcaraz takes his place as number two in the world to Sinner who received the World #1 Ranking and a lot of congrats from past #1 men’s players… Djokovic drops to number 3 and that is where he belongs… for now… let’s see what happens at Wimbledon where they may just put him on top… although, it also might go to Alcaraz as defending champion… we shall see…

And that leaves what happened to baby jane… or you… either way… it sounds the same… As you know Rob won the women’s draw (yawn) and he is just BEGGING to be put in the blog YET again for all his amazing contributions to society… yes, Rob… thank you for Alexa, who has infiltrated our homes and provided us with our freedom and privacy… you did that… congrats… and James Kotonias takes the Men’s Draw… now, this may be the first time James is celebrating a win here… He always has amazing choices and very out of the box selections… So, congrats to you! Well fuck… I forgot to tell you the best part… Ruud obliterated #22 Zverev of Germany… 6-3, 6-4, 6-0… Ruud was 29/19 winners to unforced and Zverev was 31/37… and 6/10 break opportunities to 1/9… so… there goes the score… and Djokovic takes out #1 Alcaraz… there was a bit of a fitness issue with the Spaniard… but the first two sets were magical… 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1… Alcaraz couldn’t move well in the third and fourth due to some cramping issues… (allegedly)… the results from the doctor are not yet in… so… hold please…

Wait and find out!!!

And here we are… getting closer and closer to the end… it has been a great tournament.. and better for two of the ladies and just ok for the other two… Let’s start with Muchova who takes down #2 Sabalenka in an epic match and setting up her first final 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-5 in 3 hours and 13 minutes… it came down to unforced errors 27 for Muchova and 53 for Sabalenka and break point conversion… Muchova was 5-5 and Sabalenka was 4-13… you cannot let that many opportunities pass you by… so… bye bye Kresimir at the top of the podium… yep… that is how it is going… because… Swiatek also took her opportunity for a win over #15 Haddad Maia in her 6-2, 7-6(7) victory… and again it seems to come down to break point chances… 4-4 for Swiatek and 2-7 for Haddad Maia… just will not be good enough to clear a win with that up against one another… so… Swiatek hasn’t dropped a set… and then we have Muchova… Kato and Puetz of Japan and Germany respectively have overcome and beat Andreescu and Venus of Canada and New Zealand… 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(6)… She hits a ball kid and then comes back and takes home hardware!

And now for you… wanna see what happened… Peter is now your leader and will clinch the championship… Rob is just back and they both have Swiatek to win, so that isn’t going to change… it was fun mopping the floor with you bitches… but, alas… it is important who you have to claim the title… and hopefully they get there… and it is a race for last place… will it be Eric or Len… only Swiatek will make the difference… she loses so does Eric… If Muchova wins… Len will also win second to last… stay tuned! Swiatek over #6 Gauff of the United States… 6-4, 6-2… Gauff had a game plan… get your serve in… and get the ball in the court… and sometimes that worked… and others… eh… not so much… Haddad Maia over #7 Jabeur of Tunisia… I definitely did NOT see this coming… and neither did you… so… there… but after a four hour match on Monday… she turns around and gets a 2 hour and 29 minute match with Jabeur… 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-1… the Brazilian was number 99 in the world in 2019 and failed a drug test… hopefully she is clean and look at her now… she still cheated… so, fuck her… Muchova took down Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 7-5, 6-2… I am sure she was just playing back into the tour with her return to Paris… not a lot of expectations… but, she got a quarter final run out of it… so, nicely done… and Muchova will take on Sabalenka who took out Svitolina who is just getting back into shape after having a baby… so, that is also a GREAT run for her… 6-4, 6-4 was the score… and no handshake and a wry grin from Sabalenka who has the face only a mother could love… or maybe… Rune! So a player on a doubles team launched an inocuous ball which landed directly on a ball kid and the umpire did not see it… when it was brought to his attention he offered a warning to the player, Kato of Japan… The players on the other side of the net stated that the ball kid was hurt and was crying and they demanded a default… the final decision was to default the player for the infraction… If we remember back to Djokovic losing a game and then launching a ball behind him and it hit that line judge in the throat… I would believe that the same thing goes for any player… I would also see that a ball kid should be paying attention and notice that a ball is flying their direction… It seemed the kid was more scared than hurt and it was a dramatic scenario, none the less… Speaking of idiots who do stupid shit… Djokovic and Alcaraz have something in common.. a 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 defeat of their opponents… Varillas of Peru and #17 Musetti of Italy to be exact… kind of fun… Tsitsipas is through in three over Austria’s Ofner 7-5, 6-3, 6-0… Khachanov bests Sonego of Italy in four sets 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(7), 6-1… Rune needed all five sets to take out #23 Cerundolo 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7)… and in almost four hours… Ruud took 3 hours and 20 minutes in a three set win over Jarry of Chile 7-6(3), 7-5, 7-5… Zverev took down #28 Dimitrov of Bulgaria… 6-1, 6-4, 6-3… and Etcheverry over #27 Nishioka of Japan 7-6(8), 6-0, 6-1…

On the Lady Draw… Swiatek got a retirment from Tsurnko… it seemed she was having issues breathing… She had just broke Swiatek’s serve and was serving 1-4 down and then lost the game at love and retired… 5-1 retirement over Tsurenko of the Ukraine… Gauff took a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Slovakia’s Schmiedlova… Haddad Maia takes a win over Sorribes Tormo in 3 hours and 51 minutes… 6-7(3), 6-3, 7-5… in contrast Jabeur needed 1 hour and 3 minutes to beat Pera of the United States 6-3, 6-1… Muchova takes out the lucky loser Avanesyan of Russia, 6-4, 6-3… Pavlyuchenkova in 3 hours and 9 minutes ousts #28 Mertens… Svitolina over #9 Kasatkina 6-4, 7-6(5)… there were so many breaks of serve… too many nerves… but at the end… Kasatkina gives Svitolina a thumbs up and receives one back with a thank you from Svitolina… as Kasatkina walked off the court, the fans booed… come on… Kasatkina isn’t Putin… she lost… she’s a 25 year old who later said… I think her not wanting to shake my hand is “understandable”… I don’t think it is up to the crowd to decide… and YES, I know she is married to Monfils and this is their only person left in the singles draw to grab a hold of… but, have some tact… now she gets Sabalenka who beat Stephens 7-6(5), 6-4… so… we will see how that match goes and win or lose… who will make it to the semifinals…

For you… I thought one of you would have overtaken Kresimir by now… but, alas… you’re a MESS!!! Kresimir is still leading in both the men’s and the women’s draw… but, you know that if Swiatek raises that trophy… a BUNCH of you will likely see Kresimir in your rearview mirror… on the Men’s side… it is only 14-15 points ahead in both draws and you get 30 points for the selection of the champion… so, even you can do that math…

Like, the crowd was just so great. They cheered so well for me, I wanted to make that I won.” obviously there was sarcasm… we shall see what happens with this… Don’t be a rude American… you win graciously… you have your own home slam… take the good with the bad…

This is the second time since 2019 that all French players have lost in the second round of singles… so, they are mourning…

FOR you… well… Kresimir is at it again… winning all the things… I mean… if you look at his draws, it isn’t anything fantastic… but here… it is putting him over the line… JUST enough… suck IT!!! Dan is just back and look at the Brit… not too bad Satan… but, they are breathing down your NECK!

Dan is in the lead… nicely done… breathing on his back are three count them three just back by one… and well… no one is too far behind… Alcaraz is a favorite selection and one hold out hoping that Djokovic will win… yawn… how boomer of you Eric… with Rune and Medvedev… NOPE… not that silly Russian… he is Dressing OUT… One Ruud and one Sinner… yep, that is you…

And the band played on… it was a ceremonious ending to a very wonderful clay court season… Let’s just cut to the chase… #8 Gauff & Pegula (USA and USA respectively) had an amazing first set… but it was no match for the very talented unseeded duo of Mladenovic & Garcia (Wild Card) of France… and it was over 2-6, 6-3, 6-2… and the French are triumphant at Roland-Garros… Gauff takes second place in both the singes and doubles… unlike Krejcikova who took first in singles and doubles last year… but, I see a shift… some of these girls are going to have to rise up to Swiatek… so, hopefully, this is going to get VERY GOOD!!!

And well, we all know what happened as #5 Nadal took home his 14th Roland-Garros Trophy yesterday with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-0(BAGEL) match win over #8 Ruud… It wasn’t a great match… but it was Ruud’s first time there… and, well… He will be back… (Austrian accent included)…

Nothing really changed for you… Dan took down Kresimir in the tie as he had 150 minutes and Kresimir had 179… both thought it would go four sets… actual time was 138 minutes… so… Dan gets the finish in front of Kresimir… Rob is still the winner and yes, we can hear you all the way in Shoreline… YAWN…

So… here we are… nearing the end… it is so very sad to think about leaving the clay season and going to the grass for 4 weeks… I know! It is a stupid season… Everything used to be on grass… it was a simpler time… where you would be arrested for just about anything… so… I think we are better off with a short grass court season…

#12 Arevalo (El Salvador) and Rojer (Nederlands) take the men’s doubles trophy with a 6-7(4), 7-6(5), 6-3 win over Dodig (Croatia) and Krajicek (USA)… and this LITERALLY came down to winning the ONLY break point in the match… the winners went 1/1 and the other pair were 0/10…

Boys Singles saw #14 Debru of France take out Bailly of Belgium… 7-6(5), 6-3… statistically, he dominated his opponent in most of the important stats, less unforced errors…

Girls singles showed us a Czech player, #9 Havlickova over Sierra of Argentina (I think it should have been Patagonia, but eh… whatever)… 6-3, 6-3…

Boys doubles has #1 Butvilas (Lithuania) and Poljicak (Croatia) over #2 Bueno and Buse, both of Peru… 6-4, 6-0… and Girls doubles sees the #1 Czech duo of Bejlek and Havlickova over the #2 Bartunkova (Czech Republic) and Naef (Switzerland) 6-3, 6-3…

Last for today… we have our new Lady’s champion in #1 IGA SWIATEK!!! She won in 2020 during COVID in October… so, this must feel so much better… She took the 2020 championship as the lowest ranked player to ever win at Roland Garros and now she gets it as the world #1… she overwhelmed #18 Gauff 6-1, 6-3 to take the trophy… Gauff is going to be an incredible rival for her in the coming years… and I do believe she will raise this trophy and many others… But for today, the winner is Swiatek…

And for you… placement doesn’t change… but the POINTS you accumulated DID!!! James is still OUR winner and if I could get you a chicken dinner, I would… Congrats to you my friend!!! Dan takes second because Rob didn’t answer any of the questions posed… so… #sorrynotsorry – you have to play to win!!! Kresimir takes out the very studious Len in their battle of the tiebreaker… Kresimir guessed 2 sets with 63 minutes and Len guessed 2 sets with 100 minutes… the match was two sets and lasted 68 minutes… so… Kresimir crushes for a fourth place finish… Eric loses by one miserable point in both draws… well… in this one he actually loses…

We have the Lady’s Doubles tomorrow where Gauff and Pegula face the French players Mladenovic and Garcia… Yes, they are back again… but TWO finals for Gauff… this is a very good year for her… I am excited for that match!!!

Men’s DOUBLES semis were played today and the couple Dodig (Croatia) and Krajicek (USA) took down the #4 seeded duo of Granollers (Spain) and Zeballos (Argentina)… 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-5… I did watch this one because I have a HUGE crush on Dodig… ugh… I don’t know why… he moves like a little dream… #12 seeds Arealo (El Salvador) and Rojer (Nederlands) took out the #16 duo of Bopanna (India and Middlekoop (Nederlands) 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(8)… I did not see this match, because Dodig wasn’t in it… so leave me alone…

And we have our first trophy… Mixed doubles goes to the #2 seeds Shibarhara (Japan) and Koolhof (Nederlands) 7-6(5), 6-2 over Eikeri (Norway) and Vliegen (Belgium)… Congrats to them… and I think maybe I need a moment… cause Koolhof is also a handsome fellow… although we do need to trim that beard little boy…

The Lady Draw moved forward and there were the semifinals today… Miss Swiatek took the match against #20 Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1… I mean… what is the point of talking stats… it was pretty much a blow out… and it wasn’t much more of a contest as Trevisan didn’t have the energy or movement to take out Gauff… Gauff knocked he around for a 6-3, 6-1 victory… and off we go to the races… #1 vs. #18… it is going to be an interesting match up… but, one I see Swiatek winning… Still waiting on Rob to give me his tiebreaker information… Some people have all the problems… let’s go mister… I need to get this one wrapped up!!! Didn’t think it could get better, did you? After two amazing four set matches on the top side of the draw… what could be in store for us on the bottom half… Ruud held his nerve against the young upstart from Denmark… Rune didn’t do well in the first set… and he is quite an emotional chap… take a breath… I think it will get better with time… but 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-3 gives the Norwegian his first semifinalist appearance and the first appearance by any Norwegian in any semifinal… so… we have that… and Cilic took down #7 Rublev of Russia in five sets… 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(2)… the match was very good from both players and it didn’t really reflect that particularly in the 10 point tie breaker at the end of the match… it was such good tennis from both of the boys… then… out went the Russian… like a hukr peeing on trump… PISSSSSSSSSSSSS… (add the umlaut please)…

Lady draw… Kasatkina took down the other Russian in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5) and that match was over in just over two hours… they are both 25 years of age and but the unforced errors tell the story… 50 for #29 Kudermetova and 25 for Kasatkina… it was a tight match… but… the Russian comes through… oh, right… they are both Russian… oh well… and Kasatkina will be playing none other than Swiatek who took down #11 Pegula in a 6-3, 6-2 stomp down… it was a tough first set and there was a double bounce which Swiatek slid and wasn’t penalized for… SO many people watched the bounce heard round the world… and well… it is ONE point… win the next one… but, it was enough to pull her through the first set and then she routed the American in the second… and we have our semifinals complete… I see Swiatek over Kasatkina and Gauff over Trevisan… Just saying…

E. Shibahara and Koolhof the #2 seeds in the mixed doubles took out #3 Dabrowski (Canada) and Peers (Australia) 6-3, 6-4… the score looks a lot closer than the match appeared… the #2 seeds were pretty dominating in the match… and U. Eikeri and J. Vliegen took out Melichar-Martinez (USA) and Krawiez (Germany) 1-6, 7-6(4), 1-0(7)… and that is what we have for the final! SQUEE!!! We are nearing the end of this tournament…

For you… well… I told you yesterday… if Rublev won… Eric would have pulled off a MAJOR upset… but he didn’t and neither did he… Rob is your Men’s Champion… with James finishing in MISERABLE LAST in the Men’s Draw… We do have some ties to settle… and I will be reaching out to you for your thoughts… Kresimir has 179 minutes for the men’s final and Dan has 150… whoever is closer gets the win over the other… you still get the same points… just you can lord it over them… no price is right rules… just whoever is closer… if it is 151 Dan wins… if it is 167 Kresimir wins… see… isn’t that easy…

If anyone says that was a bad day of tennis… please kindly go fuck yourself… it was AMAZING and it lived up to the quarterfinal feel at Roland Garros… not many matches to discuss… but the ones on… were great… I didn’t see the Fernandez/Trevisan match; however, I did hear that Fernandez got a bit of an injury part way through and still managed to make it a match… The Canadian has what it takes to be a champion and we will see her with a trophy in her hand SOON!!! 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-3 to Trevisan and she will face Gauff in the semifinal as she takes out fellow American Stephens 7-5, 6-2… there were some amazing shots made and it looked as if Gauff was going to choke at the end… but, she didn’t and lost her serve but broke for the win… I personally see Gauff in the final, so… we shall see if that happens!

The two men’s matches were going to be amazing no matter what… Zverev took down the young #6 Alcaraz in four sets… The Spaniard CRUSHED Zverev in Madrid on the clay and I thought it was going to be a similar experience; however, it was margins of play… 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(7)… and the Nadal match was just as great… although the points were longer and more crushing… the game was more about the will than the absolute playing of the game… in the end… the Serb bows out to Nadal 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(4)… #1 Djokovic left immediately afterwards… HAHAHA! Get out you dipshit… Looks like Nadal is the favorite now to win…

We have other matches out there… but it is all going to come down to ONE match tomorrow… Rob currently leads the Men’s draw by ONE point over Eric…. Eric has Rublev to the semifinals over Cilic… and that is doable… so, if Rublev wins… Eric wins… If Cilic wins… Rob wins… sounds like a win win, no? Either way, it will be an interesting outcome… for two very good humans… so, I am rooting for…

And Afternoon on Memorial Day… At least here in the PNW it has been cold and rainy… which has been perfect for the lazy weekend I wanted… So, YAY me… I hope you took a moment to think about people who have died during a war… maybe visited a cemetery and laid out some flowers… Now, if we didn’t have war… then we wouldn’t need a day to commemorate the people who died of it and we would likely have a day to remember those who died of COVID, AIDS, Influenza, and the Black Plague… You know, like humanity and shit…

TENNIS!!! Kasatkina was done with Giorgi in an hour and twenty minutes in her victory over the Italian in double 6-2 sets… the winners to losers tell the name of this game with Kasatkina 16/10 and Giorgi 29/37… That Italian goes for it, every time… and she plays that game always… it isn’t always a winning strategy… Kudermetova over #22 Keys of the United States 1-6, 6-3, 6-1… it wasn’t in the cards for the American and she bows out to the other one… two Russians to the quarters… Pegula needed three sets to overtake Begu of Romania 4-6, 6-2, 6-3… and Swiatek lost her first set since Stuttgart when she dropped a set to Samsonova… this time it was to Zheng of China who she lost the first set in a tiebreaker, rolled off 8 games in a row and then Zheng put up a small fight… but only took two more games… 6-7(5), 6-0, 6-2… Swiatek looked all sorts of a mess… I haven’t seen her like this… She is usually very calm and collected… #psychologyworks

On the men’s side of things… Ruud took down the Polish #12 Hurkacz 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and Rune… he takes out #4 Tsitsipas 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4… ok… this boy came to play… Unseeded likely for a bit more… but, he can play some tennis… we will see how much further he goes with an all Scandinavian Quarter… Rublev won in a retirement to #11 Sinner after dropping the first set 1-6, 6-4, 2-0 and #2 Medvedev is out in a flourish (less than two hours) 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to Cilic… not a shocker… Cilic won the boys tournament at Roland Garros 17 years ago… so, I am not sitting here with my shocked face on… but, Medvedev looked out from the first struck ball…

So, where do you fit into all this mess… well some are doing well… others… meh… Peter has taken the lead in the men’s draw… and Rob is just behind… however… Rob is also the first to lose a Champion out of the draw… and well… we all mourn the loss of Tsitsipas accept Rob who had Tsitsipas losing this recent round to De Minaur… which clearly didn’t happen… James is still in miserable last… but, there is still so many different things which can happen… mostly all in the top half of the draw… Eric is the only one left who has Rublev into the semifinals… that’s 10 points there… and then there is the Djokovic/Nadal Match tomorrow… EEK!!! Who’s going to make it through… and then… who will win the fight with Alcaraz/Zverev… too many options… this is going to be FUN!!!

As already discussed, Phirman is the winner and still has Fernandez points… which would be lovely for him… but it doesn’t change any further outcomes… we will live and die with these points… or continue up together with Iga… either way… Eric is in miserable last and will remain there… so, congratulations to you… for officially sucking the ladies… and yes, I meant to type that…

Let’s start at the end and work it backwards… or something like that… Alcaraz took down baby thor… OUCH in three sets the Russian went down like a stack of pancakes at a diner… #21 Khachnov is out 6-1, 6-4, 6-4… Zverev took his time in the first set 7-6(11) and then rolled 7-5, 6-3 against Zapata Miralles of Spain… Nadal took five sets to get over #9 Auger-Aliassime 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3… and I am sure that Djokovic was excited because he was first on and off with his three set win over #15 Schwartzman from Argentina…

On the women’s side of the draw… it was pretty quick work for a couple of the matches… another one… eh… not so much… Fernandez needed almost 2 hours to take out #27 Anisimova of the US of A… 6-3, 4-6, 6-3… Trevisan over Sasnovich in two sets 7-6(10), 7-5 which was a bit longer at 1 hour and 59 minutes… and the Belorussian can now go shopping… Gauff over #31 Mertens of Belgium 6-4, 6-0 (BAGEL) and #23 Teichmann is also out to Stephens who sends the Swiss packing 6-2, 6-0 (BAGEL)… Miss Gauff just graduated from high school and it is something she said was a higher accomplishment then a lot of things she has attained on the WTA Tour… well, we shall see if she feels that way if she makes the final of Roland Garros…

AND for you… now… I am going to start this by expressing that I don’t want to hear a bunch of fireworks going off on Capitol Hill in Seattle… If I hear ONE FUCKING BOTTLE ROCKET or a firecracker… WAR IN CAMP, I tell you… Rob has taken over the lead in the Men’s Draw and there is NO better person for the position because he is SUCH a great person in the lead… <insert a HUGE eyeroll emoji>

And for the lady draw… James is still in the lead with Dan just ONE miserable point behind… Eric is in miserable last… and it isn’t looking good for him in the final stretch… MOST everyone should be making sure that Pegula’s legs are broken (Phirman and Len), Giorgi suffers a heart attack (Phirman) and Kasatkina has COVID (Rob) as the only people who can gain points over anyone else is Phirman, Len and Rob… because all the rest of us losers have is Swiatek to win… but, so do they… so… Rob can tie Dan… Len can tie Kresimir… and no one can get to Phirman… so… I am officially declaring Phirman the winner of the Women’s Draw 2022 (remember Phirman still has Fernandez to win over Trevisan, 10 possible points)… so, it is just a numbers game of how badly he is going to beat us all… CONGRATS to you James… nicely played… from last to First… so celebrate with pride… you deserve it…

Swiatek took an hour and thirty minutes to knock out Kovinic of Montenegro… 6-3, 7-5… she was pushed but then pushed back… She was broken three times, but broke back five… so… well… she still wins and keeps that win streak alive… Zheng over Cornet of France… Cornet had to retire in the second set after not winning a game… 6-0, 3-0 retirement… She honestly shouldn’t have gone on court… Pegula over #24 Zidansek of Slovenia 6-1, 7-6(2)… and Begu over Jeanjean 6-1, 6-4 and the Frenchie is sent HOME… #3 Badosa also ended in a retirement 6-3, 2-1 to Kudermetova… The Spaniard has a knee issue which wasn’t getting better… so… off with her head… Keys over #16 Rybakina of Kazakhstan in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(3)… Kasatkina over Rogers of the USA 6-3, 6-2… and Giorgi over #7 Sabalenka in three sets… 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 (BAGEL)… so… there is no top ten seed left in the draw outside of #1 Swiatek… actually #2 through #16 are out… that is pretty much unheard of…

Well that was a GREAT day of tennis… although not the excitement of round one and two… but the storylines continue for half the players… (thank you captain obvious)… Djokovic took down the Slovenian Bedene who was British for a hot minute and now he represents Slovenia again? ok… whatever… 6-3, 6-3, 6-2… Schwartzman over #18 Dimitrov 6-3, 6-1, 6-2… and the Bulgarian gets to head to the Great Britain… just as Rob is leaving it… Auger-Aliassime over Krajinovic in three 7-6(3), 7-6(2), 7-5… and Serbia is going to join the Bulgarian… Nadal over #26 Van De Zandschulp 6-3, 6-2, 6-4… some of you had this to be Nadal’s upset… but, alas… you were not correct… but I admire the selection!!! Zverev over Nakashima 7-6(2), 6-3, 7-6(5)… a tough battle for the American to attempt to take out the wife beater… but, maybe next round… and who will make that attempt? Good Day to you all… such an interesting end of the tournament… what did you think??? were you actually able to watch??? sigh… you have to have a cable subscription and then you can see, but if you have PURCHASED their app??? Nope, we are NOT going to send that for your viewing pleasure… so… I listened to Radio Roland Garros… and this is how it went…

The Men’s Doubles was taken by the French duo of Herbert and Mahut… they took down the duo from Kazakhstan of Bublik and Golubev… 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-4… they are raising the trophy for your viewing pleasure:

The Girl’s Junior champion is Noskova over Andreeva 7-6(3), 6-3 the Czech player won the match and raises the round plate in victory:

Boy’s singles winner is a Frenchkid, Van Assche over Frenchkid Fils also of France… if you remember back, the French were in all positions of the semifinals… so, maybe one day they will get another win!!! 6-4, 6-2 to the below raising the square plate…

Women’s Doubles…. wow… this is a lot of words… Mattek-Sands and Swiatek came up short to the doubles champs a this years Roland Garros Krejcikova and Siniakova took the trophy in their 6-4, 6-2 victory over the American/Polish duo and the Czech’s did a pretty good job of ALMOST making it a clean sweep… mixed doubles was won by an American lady… but here you can see the Trophy being hoisted by the winners:

And as stated… Krejcikova doubles down in singles and takes the title over #31 Pavyuchenkova 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 and in her maiden slam final takes the trophy… she is #33 in the world… which is odd that she didn’t get seeded with the withdrawal of Halep… but, pay that no mind… she took the trophy… so into the top 20 she will go…

Last but not least, we have Djokovic who will take his 19th title and win the men’s draw… 6-7(6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 over #5 Tsitsipas of Greece… it is a bit sad… we still see the same three raising trophy after trophy… but now Djokovic becomes the first man in the open era to have won all the slams TWICE… that is a feat… and he took out Nadal to claim his second Roland Garros Trophy…

and that is where it ends… Eric takes over the lead on the Men’s Draw and Pornsak on the Women’s Draw… Kresimir holds on for second in both… Peter grabs miserable last in the Men’s Draw and Eric claims the last miserable spot on the Women’s Draw… and it closes out our time on the dirt… now… what must grow from the dirt when you put in a seed… no, not flowers… GRASS!!! and off we go!!!

What an AMAZING day of TENNIS!!! AMAZING!!!

The men came here to SLAY!!! YAAAAAAASSSS!!! Tsitsipas reaches is his first grand slam final with a 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3 over #6 Zverev… there was some good tennis and some bad tennis… but with the other semifinal… WOW!!! what a match… it took four sets to Djokovic over #3 Nadal who was going for un-lucky 13 at Roland Garros… who knows… maybe that is a feat we will never get to see… it was 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 victory for the Serb and well… we have two finals SET for the singles…

Well here we are and yes I can hear you Eric… mocking me… and likely you will have reason… the rest of us… well… we have come to an end… Eric can gain points if Djokovic takes home the trophy… and WIN… so Djokovic wins… Eric wins… Tsitsipas wins… Kresimir wins… sounds like I am saying a prayer to any god that will listen…

I think this maybe my new mantra… nothing in the world is easy and no one is just going to hand you something… You have to WORK for it… and sometimes twerk for it!!!

Men’s draw… well yesterday was predictable… there were 2 four set matches… starting with Nadal who overtook #10 Schwartzman 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0… in two hours and forty-five minutes and Nadal is through to his semifinal match against Djokovic who had a 3 hour and 28 minute match against #9 Berrettini 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5… and the men’s semifinal is tomorrow…

The other report from yesterday brings up Krejcikova over #24 Gauff in straight sets and just under two hours in a 7-6(6), 6-3 victory for the Czech player… Sakkari takes out the #8 defending champion Swiatek in double 6-4s… and there we have the set up for the semifinals which occurred TODAY!!!

YAY!!! Pavlyuchenkova reaches her FIRST grand slam final with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over unseeded Zidansek in one hour and thirty-four minutes… there were a LOT of nerves on the court particularly in that second set… and unseeded Krejcikova is also on her way to her first final as she took down #17 Sakkari who was looking in VERY good form throughout the fortnight… wow… a VERY tight match… 7-5, 4-6, 9-7 and through for the Czech player to advance… there were a lot of moon balls which was fun to watch and see how they were navigating their nerves… and well, it worked, for one of them… so now we have the FINAL!!!

Mixed Doubles – some one will be happy to hear was won by Krawczyk and Salisbury (USA and UK respectively) they took out Zvonareva and Karatsev of Russia… it was 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(5) victory for the pond crossers… Congrats to THEM!!!

For you… well, the ending of Swiatek took away ALL the rest of the points and Pornsak is OUR WINNER!!! Nicely done… Kresimir is second, Peter is third… and miserable last is Eric… yep… it was predicted and now it is shown… but, you at least got some points… there are some people who are falling off the radar… Final scoring:

On the men’s side… as I believe we last discussed… Kresimir is in the lead with Peter hot on the trail… Peter is hoping Zverev makes the final and Pornsak and Kresimir are watching for the Greek Fly to make his first final… Eric is hoping for a MAJOR upset and to see Djokovic take the title and claim his OWN crown… No one can catch Kresimir if Nadal makes it through… and if he doesn’t… then Eric NEEDS Djokovic to win in order to take it… I predict that Kresimir will retain his position… even though Djokovic looks good… he isn’t there to beat Nadal on this surface… He will have to wait another day for a 19th Slam… Nadal will look towards his 13th Roland Garros title… but, that is just my prediction…

For the Ladies… I will take Krejcikova for the win… she has won a couple of doubles titles (French and Wimbledon) and three mixed double titles for the last 3 years running… Pavlyuchenkova has never made it past a quarterfinal in single OR doubles… so, my money is on the Czech Player… I may put some money on that too!!!

OK… so we’re half way through the quarters and well… isn’t that special… Zidansek is the first into the semifinals with her win over #33 Badosa of Spain… it wasn’t an easy match and nerves were aplenty!!! 7-5, 4-6, 8-6 was the final… the other match was also done in three sets and went the way of the Russian… Pavlyuchenkova over #21 Rybakina of Kazakhstan… 6-7(2), 6-2, 9-7… so the Russian moves on…

Zverev didn’t need any time at all to oust Davidovich Fokina of Spain in a 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 destruction in one hour and thirty-six minutes… BAM!!! I am going to send a message… let’s see how he does against Tsitsipas as he moves on through #2 Medvedev in a 6-3, 7-6(3), 7-5 removal of the Russian… and we have half of the semifinals set!!!

for you… nothing changed on the lady draw… ZERO points all around… Pornsak winning and Eric taking up miserable last…. Peter cannot beat Kresimir and Eric has no points to gain… Everything is based on how Swiatek does from here on out…

On the men’s side there are still options… and we will have a better breakdown tomorrow after the matches… I can work out the rest of the options… But for now, Kresimir still leads and Pornsak cannot win because again, Kresimir has the same picks… Peter needs Tsitsipas to lose and Nadal to win the whole tournament to place well… Eric needs Djokovic to take the title to win… Pornsak and Kresimir need a Nadal-Tsitsipas final…. and that is how victory will be achieved…

And here we are… through the round of 16 and the last 8 stand… #8 with all the trimmings of outer seeds to join… and a few which are not seeded… #24, #17, #21, #31, #33 and two unseeded players make up the women’s draw… #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, #9, #10 and one unseeded player make up the men’s final eight… Gauff moves through to her first quarterfinal at a major… and that IS major… and she takes out #25 Jabeur 6-3, 6-1… Swiatek takes out Kostyuk in straight sets (TOUGH sets) 6-3, 6-4… Krejcikova took down Stephens of the USA 6-2, 6-0… some of the commentators were asking if there was something wrong with Sloane… don’t know… she just didn’t win today… but the fourth round, isn’t terrible for where she’s been… Sakkari takes out #4 velociraptor… 6-1, 6-3… nice pick Pornsak!!! although you had her beating Ostapenko… still nice to see her there… That makes 6 of the 8 quarterfinalists all new to this round of tennis… That’s CRAZY… also they were questioning if this was the youngest group of quarterfinalists… who knows… But, any of them can win… they have all proven themselves…

Nadal needed 2 hours and 17 minutes to take down #18 Sinner from Italy 7-5, 6-3, 6-0… it looked as if it was going to be a tougher first set… but, Nadal prevailed… Schwartzman over Struff of Germany in 3 hours and 2 minutes… 7-6(9), 6-4, 7-5… none of them easy sets for sure…. Djokovic took down the Italian teenager in five sets… well four and a half… 7-6(7), 7-6(2), 6-1, 6-0, 4-0 retirement… he gave EVERYTHING in those first two sets… he was gassed… poor Musetti… not the last we will hear of him…. and Last is Berrenttini who gets a walkover from #8 Federer… but, we knew that already… We are on a collision course for Djokovic v. Nadal in the semis… who will be the victor??? And we have Tsitsipas v. Medvedev tomorrow!!! SQUEEE!!! These are going to be GOOD!!!

Next up… you… I am still unsure why I cannot count… but, anyway…. Pornsak is still in the lead with the lady’s draw… up by a number of points… and with Kenin going out today… Eric is stuck at 82 and cannot gain any future points… so… there you have it… Eric is Miserable last… and that is where it will stand… Peter and Kresimir also got their 5 points from Swiatek… Pornsak has 10 more points to gain… so, he will have a total of 130 possible… Kresimir and Peter will still await how far Swiatek goes and take the points with them… and Kresimir has a bonus with Badosa to the semis… so, still some things to root for…

So… we are half way through the round of 16 on each side of the draw… quite impressive… well not the top seeded players… lower ranked players are still taking them DOWNTOWN… Federer withdrew for his future self…. so Berrenttini will get a walkover… that was the big news behind the scenes… but in front… ohhh child… Tsitsipas needed 2 hours and 7 minutes to move past #12 Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2, 7-5… Zverev in the last match of the day overwhelmed Nishikori from Japan 6-4, 6-1, 6-1… Medvedev was quick on the court in 2 hours and 4 minutes over #22 Garin 6-2, 6-1, 7-5… and there was some smack talk… Davidovich Fokina took 2 hours and 56 minutes to take down Delbonis of Argentina 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4… it’s like coding with 6s and 4s…

Ladies… what did you do today??? Well Pavlyuchenkova took down #15 Azarenka in three sets in just over 2 hours… 5-7, 6-3, 6-2… and Rybakina knocked out #8 S. Williams in an hour and seventeen minutes 6-3, 7-5… Zidansek in an hour and twenty-six minutes over Cirstea of Romanina… 7-6(4), 6-1… and Badosa takes down #20 Vondrousova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in just under two hours…

SO… interesting news…. I know you will be excited… I did a recount and there were some interesting choices by the moderator… they have been corrected and he has been expelled… just keeping it real up in this bitch… SO, for the men… Pornsak is still in the lead, but Kresimir is HOT on the trail… I also retallied the potentials for you all and you can see what you will have as final scores if ALL your picks go through… still too many things to tell… I can tell you that miserable last is going to be a battle!!! YAY the weekend… another CRAZY day in Paris… wow… so… let’s just get into it… Krejcikova took down #5 Svitolina in a 6-3, 6-2 beatdown… it took a bit of time, one hour and thirty-nine minutes… but a beat down none-the-less… who’s left again??? Swiatek took down #30 Kontaveit 7-6(4), 6-0… and she still hasn’t dropped a set… so… there is that… it took Kenin almost two hours to take out #28 Pegula 4-6, 6-1, 6-4… I am sure she was velociraptoring about the back of the court… Gauff in 23 minutes took out #13 Brady 6-1… well she retired… so… it wasn’t that short of time… Stephens through over #18 Muchova 6-3, 7-5… Sakkari ousts #14 Mertens 7-5, 6-7(2), 6-2… that second set was a good one… Jabeur knocks out Linette in 1 hour 26 minutes 3-6, 6-0, 6-1… Kostyuk over Gracheva in 1 hour and 1 minute 6-1, 6-2… rounds out the end of the women’s matches for the day… so 11 of the final 16 are seeded but we only have FOUR which were within the top 16 seeds at the start of the tournament ( #4, #7, #8, & #15)… interesting…

The MEN! Djokovic took an hour and a half to take down Berankis 6-1, 6-4, 6-1… Schwartzman over Kohlschreiber 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 in two hours… in just over 2 hours, Nadal takes down Norrie in three 6-3s… Struff takes down the youngster Alcaraz 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-2… Four Italians took to the court today and only three survived… Sinner beats Ymer 6-1, 7-5, 6-3… Berrettini over Kwon 7-6(6), 6-3, 6-4… and Musetti over Cecchinato 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3… made a lovely red, white and red moment… lastly we have Federer who took down a very fiesty German, Koepfer… 3 hours and 35 minutes… 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 7-5… whew!!! That was a good nap… I mean match… Now… Federer doesn’t have the same pop off his racquet… so he is showing some slow down… but there were amazing shots and I am happy he is still around playing… He is good for the sport…

SO… I hope you were able to see some of the tennis today… not TOO many matches… and they are getting better… players are getting their legs under them as others are being swept away with the dust… Zverev was quick out the gate and took down Djere of Serbia in three sets and 2 hours and 8 minutes… so, just done and done, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2… all in a days work… Tsitsipas took down #31 Racist 2.0… 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-1… Delbonis in 2 hours and 6 minutes over #27 Fognini 6-4, 6-1, 6-3… Medvedev knocks out the American and #32 Opelka in three sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 38 minutes… Nishikori gets a retirement Laaksonen after taking the first set 7-5… Carreno Busta is thorugh over Johnson of the USA 6-4, 6-4, 6-2… resistance is futile… Davidovich Fokina over #15 Ruud 7-6(3), 2-6, 7-6(6), 0-6, 7-5 in four hours and 35 minutes… Sheesh… someone might be tired now… Garin over Giron in four sets 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2… which rounds out the top 8 on the bottom half of the draw…

Lady Draw… Azarenka takes out #23 Keys of the USA in double 6-2s… S. Williams over the Minion in double 6-4s… Rybakina over Vesnina of Russia 6-1, 6-4… Vondrousova over Hercog in double 6-3s… remember Vondrousova was in the final just a couple years back when Barty won the French… never count her out on clay… Pavlyuchenkova is the winner over #3 Sabalenka… 6-4, 2-6, 6-0… Sabalenka took a 3-0 lead and then lost the next 5 games… not a good start… took the second and fell apart in the third… Badosa takes out Bogdan of Romania in a tough match… 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-4… there were multiple ups and downs… and remember also, this part of the draw has very high seeds and in the top part, no one… Andreescu and others have departed… so, it is going to be exciting to see who comes out of this part of the draw… Zidansek over Siniakova 0-6, 7-6(5), 6-2… well.. someone needed to warm up…

Well, it has been a beat and I haven’t been around to get this done every day… I know… disappointed… just like the rest of the world… figure it out and move on… Let’s just start at the top and wind our way through as we are right now… ladies… now… come on… #1 Barty is OUT of the tournament to Linette… it was a retirement early this morning… so… that happened… #2 Osaka pulled out by her own self and propelled Bogdan of Romania to the third round… kick up your feet pretty lady… #3 Sabalenka is fine and tasty knocking off Sasnovich of the same country, Belorussia…. it’s fine for now… #4 Kenin also makes it through…. hasn’t done a THING for a while, but sure… on to the third round after knocking off Baptiste of the USofA… #5 Svitolina is through past the American Li… #6 Andreescu was kicked out in the first round and Zidansek is still kicking after taking out American Brengle… #7 S. Williams has moved through her two very tough Romanian players and sets up a meeting with the Minion… let’s see if she can claw her way through the third round… #8 Swiatek is kicking the ass of anyone in her path… poor Peterson of Sweden… she looks shell shocked… #9 Pliskova is out to Stephens of the United States… didn’t see that one coming… but remember, Sloane got to the final in Paris not so long ago… #10 Bencic is also out… Kasatkina took her down… think Natasha from Bullwinkle only about the size of Rocky….

Top ten men… #1 Djokovic is through quick and easy over Cuevas of Uruguay… #2 Medvedev is still in it… SURPRISE… he took down Paul of the USA…. Kresimir had Paul beating Bublik and Pornsak had Bublik through as well… I think even Medvedev had anyone moving through here… #3 Nadal took down Gasquet for the 17th time… the only time Gasquet beat Nadal they were teenagers… seriously… it was SO cute to see them running around the court… #4 Thiem well he went out long ago and Andujar is also out to Delbonis… so… there you go… #5 Tsitsipas is through over Martinez and he gets the second racist, Isner… #6 Zverev is happy and content as he pounced on Safiullin of Russia… and now he takes on Djere of Serbia… #7 Rublev is out to Struff of Germany… and Struff won his second round match and will take on Alcaraz in the third round… SUPER young and SUPER talented… #8 Federer took down an old foe in Cilic… tough second round match and after some words with the Chair Umpire, it was quite amusing… but he is through… #9 Berrettini over Coria of Argentina and will take on Kwon from S. Korea… #10 Schwartzman is still in it… trying for some redemption in his last few times at a major… and he gets the veteran Kohlschreiber… it is going to be a bumpy ride… get some popcorn… get comfy… and well… smoke if you got em!!!

Kresimir takes the lead in the mens’ match… I am sure we are going to need to call in Price Waterhouse to do a recount… I am sure Rob is right on that one… YAWN… anyway… Eric is back just a hop and one from him is Peter… Pornsak… you’re not out of this one yet… remember… the big points come at the end… and well… the quarters are looking ghostly… at least for those who make it…
