Queens for a day…

And that’s about the size of it… we are DONE DONE DONE in NYC… off to Asia… but, there are some things to wrap up before we get there… spoilers for those of you who haven’t watched or seen the results… you’re welcome…

The men’s draw… In 2 hours and 23 minutes Alcaraz took down #7 Asshat in straight sets… 6-4. 7-6(4), 6-2… congrats to Alcaraz… he rounds out the first into the finals… Followed by Sinner who took down Auger-Aliassime who was doing well until the third set… I thought it was a bit of danger and the people in Vancouver were super excited… and then the wind disappeared… and the Italia#25 n stepped up… a bit of an injury to work out… but regardless… it was over in 3 hours and 21 minutes… 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4… Here is you at the end of the semifinals…

The Lady’s draw… hmmmm that is a fun one… Well… Sabalenka need her 2 hours and 5 minutes to oust #4 Pegula of the USA, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4…. and Anisimova took down #23 Osaka of Japan (Kresimir is wrong again), 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-3… great fight and grit in almost three hours… great matches… and good for Anisimova and Sabalenka… a repeat of the semis at Wimbledon… and for you… after that round… here is where you stand…

The Finals were also pretty good… I mean… well, better than a swift kick to the head… right? #2 Alcaraz raises the trophy with a win over #1 Sinner, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4… Congrats to Alcaraz… and again the boys split the majors… two each… what a delight…

For the ladies… well… #1 Sabalenka takes down #8 Anisimova of the USA in straight sets… and no, it wasn’t a double bagel… SADLY… but… 6-3, 7-6(3)… and that trophy was a second year in a row for Sabalenka… a defense of the trophy after losing in every major to an American… She lifts it high… and how sweet that victory tastes…

FOR YOU… how did this all end… well… good for some… bad for others… we knew that our good friends Phirman and Tim didn’t stand a chance… and other people climbed up on top of all the others, like world war z… so much chaos… but… Kresimir went from the top of both draws… to second in both draws.. to winning the Men’s draw… <GASP>… that wasn’t expected… and Eric held on to win the Women’s draw… not a shocker… he was in the lead with Sabalenka to win the draw… Kotonias followed with a Sabalenka win for second… and that is how it went… Great job from the East Coast… thank you for joining… Denise gets third in the Women’s draw… that’s not a bad showing for the first time… and if Aunt Fran hadn’t dabbled in their understanding of Sinner’s situation… I think the men’s draw would have been very different…

Thank you again for a fun draw… we will see you next time… Down Under 2026… Sounds like a good ole time…

The Commish!

I am always soooooo busy… This is how I relax…

Well, it is coming soon… the close… but we are not there yet… hopefully we have some amazing matches coming up… and we can end this grand slam season with a BANG… The men look pretty set and I cannot imagine that much is going to stop #1 and #2 from colliding in the final… If you have a comment to make about that… sound off to the left of your screen…

The Men’s draw… Sinner ousts fellow Italian in exactly two hours, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2… #10 Musetti aww… come here, cry on my shoulder… I might touch your butt once… it’s ok… alright twice… anyway… Auger-Aliassime (I am sure that Dan was dancing all about the house) who hasn’t done a lot in the last bit of time is all of a sudden in his second semifinal after dispatching #8 de Minaur of Australia… the little demon didn’t have enough to make a mess of the match… he’s quick, not that quick… Asshat wins over the #4 freak of jesus from the USA… that was a match I couldn’t watch… two smarmy idiots… I hope you all enjoyed… I just can’t… 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4… and the shortest match on the men’s draw was Alcaraz over #20 Lehecka of Czechia, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4… and we’re done… moving on…

Sabalenka got a walk over from Vondrousova… will that help… or will it hurt? I know that some players are good with it and it allows them to reset… but she now goes on a five day streak without a competitive match… but, I don’t know… her competitor is Pegula who took down Krejcikova in a double 6-3 manner… Sabalenka has a 7-2 head2head… so… it would look to be in the favor of Sabalenka… but, you never know… Osaka… <big eyes emoji> wow… she is back in a semifinal after defeating #11 Muchova, 6-4, 7-6(3)… wow… good for her… honestly… after that win, she is my favorite to win the tournament… Sabalenka and her are the only champions left in the draw… so… it comes down to this… wait… wait… #2 Swiatek is now out of the tournament… she loses to the player she dusted in the Wimbledon final… Anisimova… Tim & Eric… amazing pick… Yes, it is a different surface… but, beating one of the top players of the game isn’t easy… and she did it 6-4, 6-3… Anisimova leads the head2head 2-0; but both of those wins came after Osaka had her baby back in 2022… so, three years later… we have a very different Osaka… We shall see…

For you… it isn’t looking good for anyone but Eric right now… he has taken the lead in both the men’s and women’s draws… figure that one out… I am still sitting down from the shock and horror… but, numbers are numbering and here we are… Kresimir has clawed his way to second in the men’s draw and remains in control of second in the lady’s draw… for now… nothing is done aside from Tim in the men’s draw… His selection of Fritz beating Zverev in the final will not happen this year… and he will be miserable last… fear not… he could win the lady’s draw… and that would be divine justice… start praying for a Pegula v. Anisimova final with Anisimova winning and Tim will take the day… however, if Sabalenka sneaks in there, the goose is cooked and this will be a fight to the finish… Sounds like fun to me… I think I need a jello wrestling competition now… see who wins!!!

NOW as a side note… I happened to be in the car with Rob and Eric and Rob decided to let me know that I had selected the number 1 and number 2 seeds to the final… yes, I have made that comment before that just picking #1 and #2 isn’t the way one should always go… HOWEVER, with this #1 and #2… really… and by the way… I did see your selection of #1, #2, #3, & #4 to the semifinals… oh and who did you have to the women’s final? Oh, right… #1 & #2… then #3 and #5 to the semis… wow… what a HUGE risk there mister… sometimes, silence is your friend… let’s see what happens next 😛

Now, in the lady’s draw… Phirman will take miserable last… but, I want to applaud him for taking a risk with Andreeva… I know she will have a slam soon… just not this time around… Rob, you are skating by your teeth and maybe you will overtake Tim if Osaka makes the final… but maybe I will deduct some points for insubordination… you know… life…

I hope you all have an amazing rest of your day… I will be headed to Canada tomorrow, so you may not hear from me until I return… I am not taking a lap top, just my phone… but, I may just make a random report… who knows… weirder things have happened…

The Commish!

Polite New Yorker… naw… that’s a tourist…

Hello to you all… and welcome to the blog, the fourth round edition… I hope you have been enjoying the tennis… rooting for your picks to get through… well… not looking good for most of you… but, we will get to that… Let’s start with the ladies… that seems like the civilized option… the men are getting messy…

Sabalenka made quick work of Busca of Spain, 6-1, 6-4… only took an hour and thirteen minutes… so… that seems pretty clear… Vondrousova takes out #9 Rybakina in three sets… 6-4, 5-7, 6-2… The Czech player is very crafty… not a lot of power, but redirects that power wherever she likes… Pegula over Li of the USA 6-1, 6-2… Krejcikova saved 8 match points to beat Townsend of the US, 1-6, 7-6(13), 6-3… Muchova over #27 Kostyuk of the Ukraine… it was a battle out there and rightfully so… they both have something to prove and they are both excellent on the hard courts, 6-3, 6-7(0), 6-3… Osaka needed one hour and four minutes to oust #3 Gauff of the USA, 6-3, 6-2… Gauff really didn’t play terribly… Osaka came to PLAY… although, 33 unforced for Coco and 8 winners isn’t going to usually get you very far… Anisimova over #18 Haddad Maia of Brasil, 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-3… seemed like Anisimova didn’t want to obliterate her opponent like what happened to her at Wimbledon… but, she will get another opportunity because Swaitek is her next opponent after she beat #13 Alexandrova, 6-3, 6-1… same time as the Osaka v. Gauff Match… everything was pretty straight forward and no one called anyone uneducated… So, we can take this as a win…

The men.. ok… maybe messy was a stretch… but the commentators are getting irritable about the men’s matches being so short… people are just getting clobbered out there and there doesn’t seem to be anyone letting up… Alcaraz took down Rinderknech of France 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-4… here comes the big match of the fourth round… three hours and fourteen minutes for Lehecka to beat Mannarino of France, 7-6(4), 6-4, 2-6, 6-2… Does anyone watch Mannarino? He hits the ball and it seems so effortless… like Sloane Stephens… very interesting… Fritz was quick in his victory over #21 Machac of Czechia, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3… Asshat won his match over Struff of Germany, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2… Riedel of Switzerland met his end with his loss to de Minaur, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1… nice… Here’s a shocker… even Dan didn’t pick this one… Auger-Allassime takes out #15 Rublev, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4… the big melt down didn’t happen and he didn’t slam his head with the racket… but, he was close… very, very close… Musetti… who are you? Hasn’t played a really good match since Paris and here he is about to face off in the quarterfinals after his win over Munar of Spain, 6-3, 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-1… but the shortest match… was Sinner over #23 Bublik… now… I didn’t think that Bublik was screwing around… but, that was an hour and twenty-one minute slap around with breadsticks for everyone… 6-1, 6-1, 6-1… Bublik was laughing through most of it… he made the mistake of just going for more power, but that wasn’t the solution… clearly…

There we have it… the quarters are set… we are moving forward and sadly it will soon end… NOOOOOOO!!! Kresimir does still lead the women’s draw… and Eric is still squeaking out the win on the Men’s draw… but there are still opportunities… So many… Dan has Osaka to the semis… and Tim has Anisimova to win… other than that… a lot of mixed up Sabalenka / Swiatek / Pegula to the semis and beyond… still anyone’s game on the lady draw… that last win is worth 30 points… And the men’s that is a tight race… The only dark horse is Fritz for the win from Tim… everyone else… BORING… and yes Rob… you had Draper to the semis… SOOOOO impressed… but, he didn’t make it… so, you’re dropping like a pair of dirty socks… get used to it… Bold for the champ, Italicized for the runner-up, and regular font for a semifinalist…

The Commish!

Nothing twists my mind like New York pretzels…

Oh my children… well, this was a bit of a crazy round… So many losers… ok, the same amount of losers – but some interesting winners… Makes it MUCH more exciting… You never know what will happen… Sinner starts off the winners of round three with #27 Shapovalov of Canada not winning, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3… Bublik took down #14 Paul of the USA in five sets… 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1… Musetti draws a retirement out of #24 Cobolli of Italy, 6-3, 6-2, 2-0… buh-bye… Munar takes out Bergs of Belgium, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4… that walkover from Draper didn’t do him any favors… Auger-Aliassime ousts #3 Zverev… yes, that happened… 4-6, 7-6(7), 6-4, 6-4… Zverev did seem to have an issue with his hamstring and as soon as I saw him grab that part of his leg… I thought, Felix just won… Rublev needed five sets to knock out Wong from Hong Kong… (I like saying that one…), 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3… Riedl over Majchrzak of Poland with a 5-3 retirement… de Minaur over Altmaier in a retirement, 6-7(7), 6-3, 6-4, 2-0… Asshat got a win in four over Norrie of the UK, 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-3… Struff over # 17 Tiafoe… 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(7) – every time I looked up this match, Tiafoe was on the ground… I checked it at least four times… what was going on? I literally just laughed… poor Francis… his smile will be missed at the Open… Machac made quick work of Blanchet beating him 7-5, 6-3, 6-1… it will be interesting to see what the Frenchie does next… that was a solid result… Fritz over Kym of Switzerland, 7-6(3), 6-7(9), 6-4, 6-4… Mannarino over #6 Shelton in four sets… well a retirement at the end of the fourth set… 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4… Lehecka over Collignon of Belgium in a triple 6-4 manner… nicely done… Rinderknech over Bonzi in a Frenchman showdown… 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2… and he will play Alcaraz who kicked out #32 Darderi of Italy, 6-2, 6-4. 6-0 (BAGEL)…

Hi Ladies… what did you do today? Sabalenka bests #31 Fernandez of Canada, 6-3, 7-6(2)… Fernandez had some chances to make it more interesting and couldn’t capitalize on them… oh well… Busca over #19 Mertens of Belgium, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3… Seems we lost a lot of Belgians in the third round… this is at least the third! (Thank you Kim and Justine and a touch of Goffin and Xavier)… Rybakina beat the tar out of Raducanu of the UK, 6-1, 6-2… I think I went to the bathroom and it was over… it didn’t feel like much of a match at all… Vondrousova over #7 Paolini of Italy… 7-6(4), 6-1… this Czech player is very crafty… not a lot of power, but she won Wimbledon for a reason… Pegula over Azarenka, 6-1, 7-5… Li over Hon of Australia, 7-5, 6-3… Krejcikova, not really a surprise win here… but, it could have gone either way and we say good bye to #10 Navarro of the USA like the Von Trapps in the sound of music… gooooood NIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!! Get out… Townsend… yes, she did it… took out #5 Andreeva… now, there were again tears… and she is 17… so… 7-5, 6-2… Townsend is playing some good tennis and it isn’t the blitzkrieg of her 2019 run to the fourth round… She has a much more rounded game… I would like to see her in the quarters… I like Taylor a lot… she deserves some flowers this fortnight… Kostyuk over Parry of France, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2… much better result for the Ukrainian… Muchova ousts her countrywoman #21 Noskova of Czechia… well both of them… 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-2… Osaka over #15 Kasatkina of Australia… Heavy Russian accent, but living with her fiance in Melbourne… Gauff, looking MUCH better this round… at least her mental composure was there… 6-3, 6-1 over #28 Frech of Poland… Anisimova took three sets to take out Cristian of Romania, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2… Haddad Maia over Sakkari of Greece, 6-1, 6-2… well, back to the drawing board Maria… Alexandrova over Siegemund in one hour, 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-1 (BREADSTICK)… I mean… ouch… and a VERY interesting match… #29 Kalinskaya was up 5-1 in the first set… had two chances to serve it out… Swiatek crawled up to 5-5 and was broken again… broke back and then took the tie breaker… It was a tighter second set but Swiatek prevails, 7-6(2), 6-4… It was like someone was REALLY on, the other wasn’t… then the other TOOK OVER… the other relaxed… you get the picture… I mean, dead horses and all…

For you… well, things are shaking up here as well… No, no one has toppled Kresimir on the women’s side… and Eric is still in the lead with the Men (by one point)… but, the rest of the pack is moving forward… ready to strike… I have listed the people you have left in the draw, from the quarterfinals to the end and which position you have them in… W – Winner; F – Finalist; SF – Semifinalist; QF – Quarterfinalist…

This fourth round is going to be a DOOZY!!! I am so excited… busy day… Happy Sunday and enjoy the day off tomorrow! Oh, how could I forget… Ostapenko did “apologize” for the uneducated comment… she stated that English is her second language and did not mean it in a pejorative manner… ok… it was meant to say that she had no class and didn’t understand the game of tennis… never in her MANY years of playing has she seen a player not apologize for a let cord… I think, really… why is that so important to you? I need Elsa on set please… Elsa on set… we are cueing the music… yes… and play… “LET IT GO…. LET IT GOOOOOOOO!!!” Thanks for listening…

The Commish!

I went to the Brooklyn Bridge, but it wasn’t very supportive…

Happy weekend to most of you! Yay! What a WEEK! just go out and hit the ball, it will make it better… sheesh… and the tennis is getting VERY interesting…

Let’s start with the Ladies… I mean… it has been a doozy… Again, I am just going to talk mainly about the losing seeded players because it is fun to poke the bear… and what a bear it is… Vondrousova… who did win Wimbledon a few years back takes out #32 Kessler of the USA… Kessler has worked very hard and deserves that spot, and not to run into the Tokyo silver medalist… oh well 7-6(7), 6-2… Hon takes out #17 Samsonova in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2… that is a bit of a surprise… #16 Bencic of Switzerland is out to Li in straight sets… 6-3, 6-3… it was quite a shock to Bencic… she looked very confused at how this tiny little woman was kicking her ass… I mean, it was shots, shots, shots, shots… you get the drift… OOOOOOOOOOHH!!! This one is a CRAZY one… #25 Ostapenko is ousted by Townsend – holy SHIT the aftermath of that match… I don’t even know what to say… no, yes I do… I have always given a LOT of leeway to Ostapenko… she won the French Open and then hasn’t really done anything but give problems to Swiatek on the Court… She always complains about the electronic line calls… even when it is OBVIOUS the ball is in… I mean, by several inches… whatever… but after the match… she stated that Townsend didn’t “apologize” for the let cord on a play and that she was uneducated, had no class, and it went on… seriously… since when do you need an education to kick your ass on the tennis court? I don’t, no… thank you Tommy Paul… doesn’t matter… women of color have been plagued by these comments by white people for years in this country and apparently that isn’t just an US problem… sigh… you lost… take your loss like an adult and move on… break a racket… yell at your coach… but, it isn’t the fault of the player on the other end that you didn’t serve well and had 6 more unforced errors… those are on YOU… I will get off the soap box now… but, zero tolerance for this kind of behavior… I am watching you Jelena… and I hope you don’t run into me outside the USA… I can’t go forward without talking about one of the worst sets of tennis I have seen in awhile… Gauff v. Vekic… Now, caveat – I love Coco… I do… I could use a little less jesus in the commentary, because jesus wouldn’t let you win and some other christiany it not win… so, it is so dumb to cross yourself when you win and not when you lose… But she is SO talented and SO great for women’s tennis… but, this was a shitty match… plain and simple… ok… now… bless her heart, you chose to get a new coach a week before the open… together you decided to change the serve, which is a VERY important part of your game… She was all over the shop and was crying… it was an emotional rollercoaster… I know… some of you think I am being too harsh… but, she made choices… and here we are… It didn’t help that Vekic was struggling with her arm and couldn’t serve either… I mean… I turned the channel… I just couldn’t continue to watch… I came back for the final couple of games and Coco had settled down… I love the vulnerability and being that honest about what is going on with her… that is AMAZING… but, know there are going to be ups and downs with a coaching change… this shouldn’t have been a surprise… and NO ONE worth anything would really care if you lose… it’s ok… you win some and lose some… do your best and work on being better next time… ok… DONE…

Men’s Draw… #5 Draper withdrew from his match before it started… Bergs moves through to round three… I believe he had an injury for a bit of time that he has been trying to heal… maybe next time… #9 Khachanov is out of the tournament with a loss to Majchrzak of Poland… eek… didn’t see that one coming… 2-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(5)… Riedl over #19 Cerundolo of Argentina in five sets… 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2… I mean… that’s two decent players out in five set matches… and they get to play one another… that should be fun to watch… Altmaier over #26 Tsitsipas of Greece in five sets too… 7-6(5), 1-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5… I guess the theme of the second round is don’t give up… Another German, Struff takes out #11 Rune… Struff has been around awhile… so, not a “shock” but everyone keeps talking about Denis the Menace… when is he going to produce something? Just me… probably… 7=6(5), 2-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5… #16 Mensik is out to Blanchet of France… the boy from Czechia just can’t seem to get a chance to get through a major… 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7)… ousted… Kym took down #30 Nakashima of the USA, 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(8)… cya… so easy to say good-bye… #12 Ruud <smh> really… a former finalist… here… at the US Open… Collignon of Belgium took him down in five sets… 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5… Rinderknech over #18 Davidovich Fokina of Spain… sheesh… we cannot have nice things… not that I saw him winning… but give me a couple rounds… lucky you’re cute Alejandro… so lucky…

Now for you they-dies and gentlethems… Kresimir has fallen in the men’s draw… and Eric has taken the lead… close behind is now Rob… and believe me… no one is more sad about that than me… but, the numbers are what the numbers are… Kresimir is still in a clear lead with the women’s draw… but Kotonias has moved just ahead enough to be in second… This is going to get tricky… seeds are going to fall next round… they have to… because the seeds collide… and some of the unseeded will sneak through… who picked those… we shall see…

Bold for the champ and italicized for the runner-up… other two are the losers in the semis… well, in their draw… crossed out… well, they lost… suck it up pumpkin…

OK – that is a wrap on today… I will type to you on Sunday Morning most likely… but, you never know… I do what I want to :P… Have a goo long weekend people… you deserve it… watch more tennis…

The Commish!

What’s a dog’s favorite state? New Yorkie…

HERE we are again… it is the end of the Slam year and we are at the US Open… sing it Alicia… concrete jungle where dreams are made of… right… everyone goes to NYC to die… so, there you have it… or play tennis… and so, here we go… on to it… nothing too exciting as of yet… but a couple players have fallen off, just not Sinner… Thank you Aunt Fran <insert laughing emoji>…

We are mainly going to focus on the seeded losers… because there are 256 matches and I have a life… so… suck it… Walton ousts our lovely Frenchie #22 Humbert, 6-4, 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-1… oh the frogs are upset… Comesana took down #28 Michelsen of the USA in four sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4… #29 Griekspoor of the Nederlands is out to Mannarino 7-5, 6-4, 6-0 (BAGEL) eh… not too much of a surprise… he won in Mallorca on grass and then out in the first round of both Wimbledon and the US Open… have a safe flight home… get some peanuts… maybe they will be honey “flavored…” we are rooting for you… oh, and this one… #13 MELT DOWN Medvedev… well, that racket deserved a better home… I wonder if this is also the Zverev tactic… I didn’t hit her… she got in the way of me practicing my swing… <insert eye-roll emoji here> well… this wasn’t a surprise… Medvedev has had quite the bad year at majors… He made the second round at the Australian Open and then 1st round ousted in the other three… See you down under… He lost to Bonzi at Wimbledon just a few weeks back and NO ONE but Kresimir remembered? wow… sadly disappointed in some of you… But, that is all the men who are seeded who lost in the first round… that isn’t so bad… want to see how the women fared… I thought you would never ask…

LADIES!!! Can you hear me? Yes, I know… I am loud… product of WAY too many children growing up… #14 Tauson of Denmark is the latest victim of the little wonder from the Phillipines, Eala, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(11)… BAM… you’re out… #24 Kudermetova who has worked on her ranking was ousted by a relatively unknown Tjen of Indonesia… 6-4, 4-6, 6-4… how is that for a score… smack it up, flip it, and reverse it… Not a HUGE shocker with Pavlyuchenkova who knocks out #30 Yastremska of the Ukraine… who’s name Kresimir sadly butchered in the draw… sorry if that threw you… but, she is gone… the bear is likely happy, but he can suck it… #22 Mboko of Canada is out of the tournament… usually when someone wins a VERY large tournament (Montreal), they are susceptible to a loss usually in the first round… and she was playing a resurging Krejcikova who has won 2 majors… 6-3, 6-2… Kresimir ALMOST took Mboko far… but, changed his mind and went with the girl from Czechia… others of you… eh… not so much, right Kotonias <insert teeth gritting emoji>… #6 Keys of the USA takes a loss to Zarazua who beat her 6-7(10), 7-6(3), 7-5… at one point… The husband and coach of Madison states that her serve is like a mosquito sting… there isn’t much there… you have to go after it… well… float like a larvae and sting like a mosquito… sure, not the same rhyme… but, effective… very effective… #26 Kenin of the US takes a loss from Krueger 5-7, 6-4, 6-2… the little velociraptor is GONE… I am so sad… is there a sarcasm emoji… no, not the eye-roll… I use that one WAY too much… #12 Svitolina of the Ukraine… NOOOOOOO!!! I knew she had a shoulder injury, but I was hopeful for a round… she takes a loss to Bondar… 6-2, 6-4… #20 Shnaider is ousted by Siegemund of Germany… hahaha… makes me smile… and the rest of the seeds, hold…

Quite the fantastic start, eh… I have some surprises for you… New PEOPLE!!! I have successfully nabbed some people from the East Coast… we will call them sisters and a husband… because that is fun… please welcome Denise, Kelly, and Tim… They are going to spice this draw up… although Aunt Fran (see reference above) told them that Sinner was withdrawing from the US Open… well, that article was likely referring to how the US Open screwed the best doubles player of our time because Siniakova was ousted from the tournament because Sinner wasn’t feeling well… that weird mixed doubles exhibition… and yes, it was an exhibition… which last year’s doubles champs won… yes, my eyes might be stuck in the back of my head… I rolled that hard… regardless, this isn’t what we are about here… so we are MOVING on… Welcome though to you three… and we will look forward to dominating or being dominated by you…

Typically, Kresimir leads the pack in the first round… he watches WAY too much tennis and knows a lot of the random players… so, we forgive him for that sin… maybe get out and get some sun… might be a healthy solution… but, sigh… here we are… oh, right… US Open 2025 is no shocker… Kresimir is leading in both draw… followed VERY closely by Eric… in both draws… so… the rest of you had better start paying off the competition… and that will set you back a few drachmas… Remember it is about the race… not the first one to the water cooler… but man that water is delicious… Here you are… the current statuses after round one…

I would like to shout out a couple of matches that happened with people who are retiring… Kvitova lost her first round match to Parry of France… she has a baby… two Wimbledon trophies and hopefully a very beautiful life ahead… and Garcia of France (once touted as a world number one by Andy Murray, and she did have the talent… sigh… she took a loss to Rakhimova… Venus also lost… but, apparently not retiring… she took a set off #11 Muchova… but kind of fell apart at the end… that’s ok… at 45, good for her for being there and showing the tenacity of ladies of a certain age… who should NEVER be underestimated…

OK… moving on to round two… well… I see the clock is turning and these ladies and gentlemen, they need to be turned… carry on designers… keep the balls flying…
