And so it goes… we are at the end of another tournament… I don’t say it enough, but I enjoy everyone’s selections regardless what your picks are… My eyes may roll and I may giggle… but, at the end of the day, I have a lot of gratitude… so, thank you… fuck off… (it’s something that just happens when I say something nice)… balance…

Well Madison Keys definitely was ready… and she conquered the demon that she has had on her back… I was very happy for her… I also know that James K was happy for her, because he told me so… It was a large victory over #1 Sabalenka who battled back in that second set and really sent everything in a tussle… 6-3, 2-6, 7-5… very neat and tidy… and we have a new person to add to the list of ladies who have won a slam and are currently active… that list just grows and grows…

And on the men’s side we have a repeat of last years champion Sinner over #2 Zverev… now, I don’t know if you saw it but there was a woman in the audience who was screaming out the names of the alleged victims of domestic abuse who accused Zverev… I believe all these were settled out of court… but she wanted to remind everyone that we believe Brenda and Olya… I applaud that… I don’t think that because the issues are settled legally that we as humans allow that to happen again… He has a new girlfriend who honestly looks like she can kick his ass… but, regardless he also made some remarks about that and also that he doesn’t believe he will ever win a major… I concur… He doesn’t have what it takes to win… I know he wants to win… all of them do… but the fire isn’t in him… You can see it in Sinner, Alcaraz, Asshat and others who have won… I haven’t seen it in him… anyway… 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3… Sinner neutralized his serve, his baseline play and anything he could bring to the net… Sinner outplayed him in every element of the match… so… that is how that panned out…

The women’s draw did not change after the last showing… no points were awarded because no one selected Keys to win… so… sorry bitches… better luck next time… Congrats to Mr. Kotonias who wins this years AO women’s draw… I was almost a bride… once upon a time… Tai takes miserable last… congrats to her… and thank you for playing…

So… on the boys side of the tournament… Sinner stamps his passport and moves to the final over #21 Shelton of the USA 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-2… Great tournament for the American… just not enough to pull out a win over the world number one… Asshat is out after his first set retirement to Zverev… I don’t know if the Aussie crowd was being so correct by booing him out of the stadium… I mean… it may or may not be my ringtone now for anytime Rob calls me… but, I am pleading the fifth… for now… but, the need to boo someone who is injured, eh… I think that might be a bit much… He did telegraph that if he lost the second set to Alcaraz, he would have quit… maybe that is where he was feeling the injury… I am not a fan (OBVIOUSLY), but I do think that he is a good tennis player and there should be some respect for that- 10 titles… Personally they should have CHEERED him out… screaming “GET OUT” YAY!!! HE LOST!!! That is what I was doing… 7-6(5), ret…

Sabalenka took out her very good friend, #11 Badosa of Spain in two sets… 6-4, 6-2… Sabalenka promised a gift… maybe she said that in advance of the match… hmmm… cheater… LoL… and she gets Keys in the final after her win over #2 Swiatek… 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(8)… Swiatek had a match point opportunity and couldn’t make it happen… Very excited for Madison Keys… she works so hard and is one of those players who has been almost there so many times… but maybe they will continue to edge her and just not let her win…

For you… James K has taken over both draws… and Kresimir will win the women’s draw IF Sabalenka wins… but James has solidified his win with a pick of the two finalists in the men’s draw… I mean, #1 v. #2 isn’t a stretch.. but in this tournament.. that took balls… Rob pulled himself out of the middle by selecting 1 and 2 and will take third… (Good job James K and Rob) Sadly, Tai will be in miserable last in both draws… The more you play the more you learn other people’s choices… It will get better… I promise…

Sinner takes out #8 de Minaur of Australia 6-3, 6-2, 6-1… what a lovely score… one for the ages… not much to say there… just your wedding will cost $665, 000.00… That is a nice budget… <insert eye roll emoji> Why would you make that announcement? gross… Shelton over Sonego of Italy, 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(4)… and some of you were correct about an American making the semifinals… but only one of you got which one it was… Asshat dropped the first set and claimed after the match was over that he would have quit had he lost the second set… #3 Alcaraz is out with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 loss to the Serbian… Zverev needed four sets also to beat #12 Paul of the USA, 7-6(1). 7-6(0), 2-6, 6-1… and that is how the men’s draw shakes out… two people had three of the four, most of you only had two… I am going to predict a Sinner v. Zverev final (only because I don’t want asshat closer…)

Ladies… where are we now… Well, same situation on the women’s draw… only one American made it through to the final and only two of you selected her to get there… one of you has her to the final… so… this is always fun… Sabalenka over #27 Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 2-6, 6-3… Badosa over #3 Gauff 7-5, 6-4… this is again a situation where Coco isn’t changing her tactics enough to change the game… there were flashes of changes… but, then back to the same song and dance… She needs more variety in her game so she can offset when she is struggling… Keys over #28 Svitolina of the Ukraine… nice match… a lot of back and forth… Madison had a LOT of nerves at the end of the match… those aren’t going away and your opponent won’t have as many of those… Swiatek over #8 Navarro, 6-1, 6-2… There was a point where there was a drop shot exchange… Swiatek didn’t get to hers and it bounced twice… and the umpire said she didn’t see it… They have video coverage of the point and the double bounce… but within the rules, you have to “challenge” it and then they will review!?!? Wait, what? we have removed all the line judges because of technology… but we aren’t going to review the tape to make sure the right call is made? And Swiatek knows she didn’t get that point… There is a bit of a sportsmanship issue here… to replicate my feelings about the tennis wedding, gross… I will predict a Sabalenka v. Swiatek final…

Where do you sit in all of this? Well, on the correct side of herstory… James K and Kresimir are still ruling the roosts of their respective brackets… but things are starting to shift… it will come down to who gets in those finals and who wins… a total of 20 points per finalist and 30 points for the champion will put this thing down to the bitter end… If Sabalenka makes the final and wins… Kresimir may come up and steal that from James K… and on the men’s side… Sinner is most people’s choice… but Zverev making the final would put a wrench in Kresimir’s victory… so… we shall see!

We reached the end of the fourth round and now we are heading into the land of the quarterfinals… Let’s give you a small re-cap…

Sabalenka took out #14 Andreeva in fast fashion with a 6-1, 6-2 beat down… I think someone is trying to tell us something… now, remember the Russian is 17 years old… still figuring out her discipline and routines… so, this makes sense… Pavlyuchenkova needed 1 hour and 45 minutes to win the first set 7-6(0)… then zero minutes to beat #18 Vekic of Croatia in the second set 6-0 (BAGEL)… I didn’t see this one… but it was a repeat of last years first round for the both of them… the Russian won the match there also… How do I remember that you ask… well, I was there… Gauff needed three sets to push past Bencic of Switzerland… I think the toll of being a mother of a 6 month old just may have played a role in the inability to cross that finish line… well, that and Coco brought her game up… but it is nice to see Bencic back and looking pretty solid… that third set though… 5-7, 6-2, 6-1… Badosa gave a lesson to the young Serbian, Danilovic in her 6-1, 7-6(2) victory… Danilovic was up a break in the second set and Badosa gave her what for… sit down little girl… this is the lady draw… Keys knocks out #6 Rybakina… 6-3, 1-6, 6-3… what a wild match… Madison came out with a purpose and totally dominated that set… then she just took a nap… I don’t know… it is so silly how within minutes they can lose that much focus…. maybe she was thinking about her wedding… or what it would be like to be coached by Ivanicevic… I don’t know… it baffles me… always up to see what you think… Svitolina ousts Kudermetova in two sets… 6-4, 6-1… I thought it was going to be a tougher match; however, it wasn’t… no handshake… thank you… it is odd to watch it in real time… only because I am so used to it at the end of the match… but, I appreciate that Kudermetova just walked over, gave a shake to the chair umpire and off she went… Navarro ousts #9 Kasatkina in three sets… 6-4, 5-7, 7-5… she has officially been in three set matches the entire tournament… and now she gets to play Swiatek who took out Lys of Germany 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-1… EEK… that poor girl didn’t know what hit her… and it was likely with the flat end of the spoon… yes, spankings ALL AROUND!!! (I’m Oprah like that)…

The boys… oh kids… what did happen in the last couple of days… Soooo much… Zverev is cruising through his portion of the draw… hasn’t dropped a set until now… but, he also hasn’t played anyone of note until now… #14 Humbert didn’t have enough to make it work… 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2… Germany over France in this bout… Paul breadstuck Davidovich Fokina of Spain… 6-1, 6-1, 6-1… that is now officially the past tense of stick… you’re welcome… I know that is a trivia question… Alcaraz over #15 Draper in a retirement at the top of the third set… 7-5, 6-1… I don’t think that Draper of the UK had much left in him… those three five setters left him gassed or too pooped to pop… (I have no idea where that phrase came from)… but it is approved… Alcaraz will face Asshat who won his match in three 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) over #24 Lehecka of Chile… now Asshat is getting tweeted to by the king of the asshats… wow… what a pair they will make… maybe a June wedding… what do you think (yes, that was rhetorical)… Tien of the USA is out to Sonego… yes, the little boy will dream again and I am excited to see him play at his next tournament… My guess, he won’t be on the challenger circuit much longer… 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1… Shelton takes out Monfils of France in a retirement… NOOOO… 38 years old… this man is playing amazing tennis and acting bobo the fool… he is ridiculous in the best way possible… I love Monfils… 7-6(3), 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 1-0… de Minaur ousts Michelsen of the USA, 6-0 (BAGEL), 7-6(5), 6-3… sounds like someone needs a nap… Sinner over #13 Rune, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2… apparently there was a lot of distractions… the net had issues… there was a medical timeout… just extra shenanigans… but, so much fun!

Women… Sabalenka… another opportunity for a lower ranked player to just hold and I think this would have gone differently… Tauson of Denmark just didn’t have enough in the tank to pull off an upset… 7-6(5), 6-4… Andreeva over #23 Frech in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2… Vekic needed three tight sets to oust #12 Shnaider 7-6(4), 6-7(3), 7-5… Pavlyunchekova over Siegemund, 6-1, 6-2… obviously the blitzkrieg style of tennis doesn’t work on everyone… remember Stalin… que the darth vader music! Gauff over #30 Fernandez… that is the second meeting between these two and the Canadian is such a feisty amazing player, just not today… 6-4, 6-2… Bencic takes out Osaka in a retirement, 7-6(3), 0-0… Badosa needed the three sets to take out Ukraine’s own #17 Kostyuk, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3… I did see Tsitsipas in the crowd… Impressive… most of the boys never show up for the ladies… I was surprise to see him there, telling Badosa to calm down… just like an uptight man… I bet he got a spanking later that night… just sayn’! Danilovic takes it to #7 Pegula… 7-6(3), 6-1… maybe don’t play in the lead up tournament just before the AO starts… Rybakina over #32 Yastremska 6-3, 6-4… it is nice to see Rybakina doing well… She has been pretty down for a bit… new coach and her old coach under scrutiny by the WTA… tough love or abusive practices, someone will decide… Keys over Collins, 6-4, 6-4… Kudermetova takes a win over #15 Haddad Maia of Brazil, 6-4, 6-2… Someone was going to do it… Neither player has been very productive over the last bit of time… and maybe we have a resurgence of the Russian… Svitolina beats #4 Paolini of Italy, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 (BAGEL)… maybe hard courts aren’t her specialty… see you in Paris… Navarro over Jabeur, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4… it is always fun to watch the Tunisian player play her game of drop shots and shenanigans… She hasn’t ever done well in Melbourne… but, this wasn’t a bad showing for her… I hope she gets her asthma under control… Kasatkina in straight sets over #24 Putintseva 7-5, 6-1… I think that Kasatkina gave her that point in the second set… I think that Putintseva who is 30 could benefit from a sports psychologist… she just gets so angry at herself… when one is on the court, you have to let that shit go and move on to the next point… it eats her alive and it is SOOOO apparent from the outside… Lys over Cristian in three, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3… that player you all didn’t choose is in to where most of you had her… nicely done… and Swiatek beats the living shit out of Radacanu of the UK, 6-1, 6-0 (BAGEL)… and that is how the lady drama went over the last two days…

Now for you… Kotonias is still ruling the roost on the Lady’s draw and Kresimir is still ahead in the Men’s draw… but, the tides are changing and the further asshat goes, the more points some of you get… and the points are increasing and Kresimir is getting nervous… Kotonias is just sipping his coffee and watching the world go by…

The Men… well, let’s call them boys until they act like men… Sinner took four sets to take out Schoolkate of Australia… not a surprise… someone comes out with a lot of fire and then that fire dies… much like Schookkate… buh-bye… #18 Hurkacz says good-bye in a loss to Kecmanovic… The Polish player didn’t have anything in the straight sets loss to the Serbian… Rune gets a win over Berrettini of Italy… four sets… but, nothing to write home about… Maybe this Danish player will do something… oh, well fourth round potential with Sinner… all signs point to “no…” Khachanov over Diallo of Canada… This youngster is very good and is showing a lot of heart and promise… I look forward to seeing him in Paris… Cerundolo ousts Diaz Acosta of Argentina due to a retirement… that sucks… next time… cya… Fritz over Garin in a definitive beat down of Garin of Chile, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0… no mercy… Shelton in four over Carreno Busta of Spain… Musetti over Shapovalov in three… The Canadian had 15 double faults and that isn’t going to work in a match like this… Marozsan takes a win over #17 Tiafoe of the US… argh… FRANCIS!!! We will soon find out… Lehecka over Gaston of France in a second set retirement… Draper needed five to oust Australia’s own Kokkinakis… #22 Korda of the US is out to Vukic of Australia… five sets also… I wouldn’t call this an upset… Korda is coming back from injury… so… par for the course… #27 Thompson of Australia is out to Borges in straight sets and he will play Alcaraz who crushed Nishioka… 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-1, 6-4… #6 Ruud is out to Mensik (yes, I mentioned that last post)… four sets and good-bye… #29 Auger-Aliassime takes a loss against Davidovich Fokina in five sets… seems that win in Adelaide had it’s effect after all… Paul takes down Nishikori of Japan (I still have his racquet from my trip down under in 2015 – Nishikori’s racquet that is)… Maybe I will sell it after he retires… hmmm… Humbert over Habib of Lebanon and something else for France to celebrate Fils is also through, but over another Frenchie Halys in four… and Fils is STILL CUTE!!! Hey LADIES!!! Sabalenka had an interesting round win over Bouzas Maneiro of Spain and like most players just couldn’t hold when it mattered the most… what would have happened if she won the second set… the world will never know… Frech over Blinkova (she beat Rybakina last year in a REALLY long match, I was there for that one)… Andreeva is also VERY lucky in her win over Uchijima of Japan… three sets and Uchijima was serving for the match at 5-4 and choked… I said to myself… if she loses this game, she will lose the match… 10-8 in the tie breaker… Schnaider over Tomljanovic in straight sets… Vekic over Dart (LL) of the UK (Vondrousova)… Pavlychenkova over Potapova in three sets… #5 Zheng is taken out by Siegemund… now, there was something happening with the shot clock and Zheng said she couldn’t see it… ok, it’s in a different place than it is on other courts… but, it didn’t change between the beginning of the match and almost 2 hours in… so, you can adjust… Siegemund does a blitzkrieg style of tennis where she throws everything at you to see what sticks… this didn’t work well for Zheng and in the end she falls… after making the final last year, her ranking will also fall.. Gauff over Burrage of the UK in two sets… Fernandez over Busca of Spain in three… Osaka takes a victory over #20 Muchova… it was an odd match… Osaka out to lunch in set one… Muchova out to dinner in set two… and then they laid into each other… great third set… the other two… meh… Badosa lost one game in her victory over Gibson of Australia… Kostyuk ousts Niemeier of Germany… Danilovic takes out #25 Samsonova… Pegula gets a victory over Mertens of Belgium… Rybaknia over Jovic of the US… Yastremska over Kovinic 0 and 1… Just to be clear… this past year Yastremska has done almost nothing… she has won a few matches after her semifinal appearance last year… now she thinks she’s a star… well, apparently only in Melbourne… Keys over Ruse of Romania… Collins who apparently is having the time of her life in Australia… blowing kisses to the hostile crowd and general shenanigans… I approve… give them hell.. She did win over her Australian opponent who comes across as very sweet and congenial… so… whatever… fans need to realize that yes, they are paying a price for a ticket… but that doesn’t give you carte blanche to act like an ass and ruin the experience for everyone else… YOU are not on the court… the players are… it is not about YOU… anyway… Aiava is out… Haddad Maia makes it through another round over sister Andreeva… Kudermetova elder has decided to play and takes out #22 Boulter of the UK… Svitolina over Dolehide of the USA… Paolini over Zarazua of Mexico in straight sets… Navarro needed another 3 sets to beat Wang of China…Jabeur who seemingly had an issue from the beginning of the match… she claims it has something to do with respiration and asthma… the more you know… she beat Osorio of Columbia… Putintseva over Zhang of China… Kasatkina over another Chinese player, Wang… Lys (LL) (Kalinskya for some of you) is through another round over Gracheva of France… Swiatek rounds out the bottom of the draw with a win over Sramkova of Slovakia…

For you… Kresimir is in the lead for the Men… but things have changed for the Lady draw… James K made some very bold picks and has taken over the lead… nicely done Sir! Kresimir does note that this is likely to happen in the Men’s draw and is awaiting the person to take over that lead… so… yay!

Let’s get some of the politics out of the way… two withdrawals… #13 Kalinskya who was replaced by Lys of Belgium… Not to worry, everyone who had her winning gets that point and she will continue to represent her however far she reached… The other withdrawal on the Lady’s Draw was Vondrousova who was replaced by Dart of the UK… She also won; however, that goes with mixed reviews, but that is how the cookie crumbled… On the Men’s draw there was one withdrawal which came from Fognini who was replaced by Passaro of Italy… In case you did not know that is why some of the draws will have a (LL) by their name. That means they are a lucky loser… They played in the lead up tournament to get a qualifier (Q) position in the main draw…. lost in the final round and because of a withdrawal, they get drawn out of a hat and placed in the draw to make some extra cash… yay for them… I think that is all the busy work I had to get through… So, on to the matches…

Let’s start with the boys… BIG first round match for Sinner in Jarry of Chile… He is currently ranked #36; however, based on the people not here and here, he would have been seeded #33 which is just one position out of being seeded… So, tough first round for the Italian… 7-6(2), 7-6(5), 6-1… and a win… #32 Cobolli from Italy is out to Etcheverry he is also pretty highly ranked at #38 so… not a huge shocker… Hurkacz over Griekspoor of the Nederlands in straight sets… Rune took out Zhang in five sets… The Chinese player came out VERY strong and then took a break and came back in the fourth set… nice try… maybe don’t have a cigarette and some coffee and expect to win next time… I mean… not too difficult… Michelsen… for those of you who know… knew… nicely done… #11 Tsitsipas is out of the tournament to the American in four sets…. when you’re up two sets to none, have coffee and a cigarette… even one or the other… but Michelsen straps on a win and moves along… Khachanov is through to round 2 with a win over Mannarino of France in straight sets… Cerundolo over Bublik in straight sets… de Minaur over van de Zandschulp of the Nederlands in three… Fritz over fellow American Brooksby in straight sets… note that I learned that Brooksby is on the autism spectrum… How wonderful… and he is talented on the court… so, hopefully more from him in the future… #30 Mpetshi Perricard is ousted by Monfils… both from France… but Monfils is on a tear and I am here for it!!! He won Aukland just on Saturday… turn around and take down the big man.. quite a feat.. five sets… eeek… Shelton over Nakashima of the USA in straight sets… Musetti over fellow compatriot Arnaldi of Italy… #9 Rublev is taken out… and yes… much like Michelsen, if you know… you KNOW… This boy is talented… and his name is Fonseca of Brazil… you will remember him now… Tiafoe needed five sets to take out Rinderknech of France… Tiafoe suffers a bit from the relaxi taxi syndrome… #25 Popyrin of Australia is gone from the tournament losing to Moutet of France… shocking considering how well the Aussie plays against top players… Medvedev needed five to take down the Thai player Samrej… we haven’t had a Thai player on the men’s side since Srichaphan… reference to the late 90s early 2000s… Jackass won… yay… four sets against another up and coming player Basavareddy of the USA… Machac is through in straight sets over Nagal of India… Fun Fact… Djokovic lost in Brisbaine to Opelka… Opelka won his first match… has a MONSTER serve… so, he could run into fuckface in the third round… won’t that be fun! Lehecka over Tu of Australia… #10 Dimitrov retires due to injury and the Lucky Loser I mentioned above is through… Draper needed 5 sets to take out Navone of Argentina… another up and coming youngster… Korda over Klein of Slovakia in four sets… Thompson over Koepfer of Germany in four… Alcaraz ousts Shevchenko… now, Shevchenko was playing with Rybakina at the United Cup and he played VERY well… I thought it would have been a tougher battle… but, he’s tired… Ruud takes a win… but I venture he is going to struggle tonight against Mensik… but, a win over Munar of Spain in five sets… Auger-Aliassime over Struff of Germany in four sets… I thought the same of Monfils… they both just won a tournament… usually that sets in a bit of confidence that is easily deflated… but, I guess it only happened to one person… #23 Tabilo of Chile is beaten by Carballes Baena… four sets… Paul needed five sets to take out O’Connell of Australia… Humbert over Gigante (Italy) in straight sets… Fils (OH WHAT A CUTIE) over Virtanen in four sets… #28 Baez is out to Cazaux… Special shout out to Fearnley who kicked Kyrgios out of the tournament in straight sets… my hope and prayer is that these news organizations stop asking for his opinion on tennis… just let him go away into retirement never knowing how much he could have accomplished… BARBARA PLEASE!!! Zverev over Pouille in a 6-4 x 3 fashion… yay math!

The women… I have some thoughts… I just learned that there is another billionaire amongst the lady crowd… I am becoming less impressed that Daddy paid for lessons and that is all they have had to focus on what a story… FUCK ALL THE WAY OFF… (emma navarro – fyi)… Anyway… Sabalenka is through over Stephens of the USA… Tauson takes out #29 Noskova of Czechia in three sets… nice pick if you called that one… Frech over P. Kudermetova who went on a deep run to the final at Brisbane… so, this wasn’t the most plausible outcome… but good for Frech… M. Andreeva over Bouzkova of Czechia… Schnaider over Cocciaretto in two sets… Vekic over Parry of France in two sets… Pavlyuchenkova is back back back again and needed three sets to oust Yuan of China… Zheng over Totoni of Romania… Gauff over Kenin (HAHAHAHA) I think that Kenin is on something… adult acne and steroids have similar effects… just saying!!! Fernandez over Starodubtseva in straight sets… Muchova over Podoroska in breadstick fashion 6-1, 6-1… and now she faces Osaka… delightful!!! #16 Ostapenko is out to Bencic… Bencic had a baby and is making her way back on tour… although she is a very shady lady… she was up against the queen of that line call was wrong and that one was wrong… lawd… you are not the oprah of line calling… stop it! she is out.. yay… Badosa over Wang in two… Kostyuk beats Hibino of Japan in two… Samsonova in two over Rakhimova… Pegula over a young Joint of Australia in two sets rounds out the top half… Bottoms… Rybakina done and dusted Jones of Australia… Yastremska over Sherif of Egypt… Keys over compatriot Li in two sets… Collins over Snigur from the Ukraine in two sets… Haddad Maia won her first match over Riera of Argentina… Boulter over Marino in three… Svitolina over Cirstea in two sets 6-4, 6-4… Paolini over Wei of China… Navarro over Stearns 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-5… this was a GREAT match… although I think nerves were really the decider… Stearns, who looks like a midwestern mom before she had 4 kids and a minivan (go ahead… look it up… I will wait… you will see what I mean), played such a strong tennis match… she just didn’t have the endurance or patience to close it… she had too many opportunities… #31 Sakkari is out to Osorio of Columbia… meh… par for the course… Putintseva over Avanesyan… I contemplated this match for about an hour on who to select… I ended up with Puntintseva… but, what torture… Kasatkina looked EFFORTLESS out there on the court… where has this lesbo been?!?!? takes out Tomova of Bulgaria… #21 and two time AO champion, Azarenka, is out again… losing to Bronzetti in straight sets… #26 Alexandrova is out also to Raducanu in double tiebreakers… kind of a messy match also… and Swiatek needed a 6-3, 6-4 score to knock out Siniakova of Czechia… and that is how it happened…

And so we have reached the end of another grand slam… All the finals are played, the trophies are handed out and the janitor is making their way though the slog of the clean up… Twas an amazing fortnight of tennis, and for those of you who didn’t watch… shame on you…

#2 Sabalenka (BLR) took the women’s title with a 6-3, 6-2 over #12 Zheng (CHI)… A defended title for the number two seed and it was all in the hands of the Chinese Player… That second serve was vulenerable and she had nothing built in to defend it… Sabalenka swings for the fences and a serve at 133 KM just isn’t going to cut it… Needless to say the final was completed in 1 hour and 16 minutes… and I am excited to see a new finalist in the mix… even if she didn’t take home the title…

Another new finalist to the marking board, but he didn’t stop there… He also takes home a very nice trophy, #4 Sinner (ITA) who defeated #3 Medvedev (RUS) in five sets… From my review of the stats Sinner had more winners to unforced errors (50/49) and Medvedev was quite the opposite (44/57)… Their total points were 142 for the Italian and 141 for the Russian… so… 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3… Big game to come back from…

Men’s Doubles #2 Bopana (IND) & Ebden (AUS) take home the title over Bolelli (ITA) & Vavassori (ITA) 7-6(0), 7-5… Bopana is the oldest winner of a Men’s Doubles Major (43) after this win and it is his first in Men’s Doubles which just feels odd… He has a French Open title in Mixed Doubles… So, good win for him…

#2 Hsieh (TPE) & Mertens (BEL) took the title 6-1, 7-5 over #11 Kichenok (URK) & Ostapenko (LAT)… I haven’t seen the match, but if she is complaining about the line calls as much as she did in her third round against Azarenka… I am sure it was entertaining… Ostapenko should be a drag queen with as much delusion she has in her head…

#4 Sakamoto (JAP) took the boy’s singles trophy over Kumstat (CZE) 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-5…

#1 Jamrichova (SVK) takes out #6 Jones (AUS) 6-4, 6-1 to take away her girls singles trophy for the week…

#2 Oda (JAP) bests #1 Hewett (GBR) 6-2, 6-4 and lifts his trophy in Men’s Wheelchair Singles

#1 De Groot (NED) claims her 9th AO title for Women’s Wheelchai Singles in a row over #2 Kamiji (JAP) 7-5, 6-4…

#2 Schroder (NED) over #4 Sasson (ISR) in double 6-3 sets for the Quad Wheelchair Single’s trophy and that rounds out this year’s winners…

And now for you… Len is the champ of this year’s AO and we have a NEW runner-up… DAN – you get your first mention on the standings page for your immaculate selection of Sinner to win the championship… I personally thought that if it was a Sinner Alcaraz match up in the final, Sinner would have been more tired after beating Djokovic… but, that wasn’t the case at all… Eric moves into third…

Well, I just may be able to watch the final after all… but more on that later… Let’s start with some winners… champions as it were…

Mixed Doubles saw #3 Hsieh (TPE) and Zelenksi (POL) (no, not Zalenksy) took the championship… Hsieh, as some of you know, has likely the slowest serve, but she is CRAFTY and I don’t mean she can Macramé you a new penis cozy so settle down… They had a very tough match-up against#2 Krawczyk (USA) & Skupski (GBR) 6-7(5), 6-4, 11-9 (mixed has a third set 10-point tie breaker rather than a full set)… It was up, down, left and right… someone would take control of the match, then… it would go the other way… The winners found each other in the “looking for a partner” list… How do I sign up… might be fun to put your name on the list and someone go… who’s that… sure, why not… ok… I know it isn’t going to happen, but a girl can dream!

Boy’s Doubles was decided with Exsted (USA) & Woestendick (USA) took the trophy over #5 Bruncik (CZE) & Frydrych (GBR) 6-3, 7-5…

Girls doubles were also contained American winners,#3 GGrant (USA) & Jovic (USA) who outclassed Pastikova (CZE) & Stusek (GER), 6-3, 6-1…

The British duo and #1 seeds of Hewett (GBR) & Reid (GBR) were too much for the Japanese combo of Miki (JAP) and Oda (JAP) who lost 6-3, 6-2 in Men’s Wheelchair Doubles…

Not shocking, #2 De Groot (NED) and Griffioen (NED) both of the Nederlands took the women’s doubles trophy over the #1 seeds of Kamji (JAP) and Montjane (ZAF), 6-3, 7-6(2)…

Quad Wheelchair Men’s Doubles was won by Laphthore (GBR) & Wagner (USA) over Ramphadi (ZAF) & Sasson (ISR) 6-4, 3-6, 10-2…

So, off to the Men’s Draw where we see the Djoker, CHOKED… he didn’t act like a complete ass at the end… I wouldn’t say classy, maybe klassy… He is even slightly smug with his loss… The crowd must have been so loud I don’t know if they could hear the announcer when he stated Djokovic was leaving the court… #4 Sinner (ITA) takes down #1 Djokovic (SRB) in four sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3… the Serb stated after the match that it was the worst match he has ever played at a major (54 unforced errors to Sinner’s 28)… He did credit Sinner some… but, it came as a backhanded compliment as only he can deliver… you lost… sit down and shut the fuck up… I don’t know how his opponent is going to be because he spent another 4 hours and 18 minutes on the court… #3 Medvedev (RUS) outs the #6 wife-beater (GER) out of the tournament in 5 sets, 5-7, 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(5), 6-3… Unforced errors seem to be the biggest slant in this match with 41 to Medvedev and 70 to Zverev… So, I guess I will be watching the Men’s Final now… I hope I personally manifested this final… You’re welcome… as that was likely the only outcome I would have watched… Not a huge Medvedev fan, but he is very effective with his movement… something about how he strikes the ball that just looks off to me, I don’t know what it is… But, GO SINNER!!!

For you, give it up for Len who has clinched the win with Sinner to the final… If Medvedev wins… the list below remains… Right now, Eric is in second and Kresimir is in third… If Sinner wins, Dan will leap like a slender ballerina to second (30 points)… Len will jump into more of a lead, and Eric and Kresimir will move down accordingly… Can’t help you Rob and miserable last James who came in with great choices, just didn’t pan out this time… So… here we go… Lady’s Final is tonight-ish… morning-ish… then the Men on Saturday/Sunday-ish…

Well this is going to be short and sweet… nothing much to really say… but the final is set… The first match on court was #2 Sabalenka (BLR) v. #4 Gauff (USA)… it was a lovely summer evening and the breeze was cool and calming and two players walked on the court and only one went off with a victory… oh right, that is every match… It was an hour and forty-two minutes and it was by margins… except the total points won… the winner took 82 points to the loser who had 68… service points won was also very different winner with 70% of first and 50% of second serves won vs. 65% and 39%… but, it was slim and the winner is by 7-5(2), 6-4… #2 Sabalenka who will face off against #12 Zheng (CHI) who took down the qualifier Yastremska (UKR) 6-4, 6-4… keys to that match was the same thing… 72 points won by Zheng and 58 to Yastremska… and serves at 76% first serves won by the Chinese player to 54% for the Ukrainian… the men are up tonight… Go SINNER!!!

No change in the score and no one can gain any more points… so, Kresimir wins this year’s AO Women’s Draw by a landslide… Dan gets second and Rob has third… James is in miserable last, but he reached 100 points in a VERY toxic bracket…

I honestly don’t have a clue what that title means other than Aussies have a LOT of meat they stuff into pies which they successfully shove in their gobs… So, do with that piece of trivia as you please… The semis are set and we are on our way to the final… There were two very tough matches performed by the Men and two matches which were a bit of a mixed bag on the Lady’s side… Medvedev took just one minute under 4 hours to take out #9 Hurkacz (POL) 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4… from all my reading on the subject Medvedev is TIRED… almost as tired as I am… but he successfully won the match… They were tight on every single stat… and Hurkacz won more points over the whole match than the Russian… 164 / 156… that isn’t common… The only thing that can be reported is unforced errors where Hurkacz had 55 and Medvedev 42… but service percentage was close (Hurkacz was better) winners was 61 / 43 to Hurkacaz… stats alone, you would have said Hurkacz won this match… but the numbers show a different story… So, we will see what he has left in the tank when he goes up against the GF-beater who knocked out EVERYONE’s favorite personality and smile in #2 Alcaraz (ESP) NOOOOOOO!!!! Sigh… From what I started watching it looked like Zverev was the right amount of aggressive and he just took it to him… Alcaraz made 20 more unforced errors, so it is possible that the first and second set were just not something to write home about… 6-1, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-4… Well, you win some and you lose some… Honestly, I don’t even want to watch the final at this point if Sinner isn’t there… The other three really don’t interest me on any personal level… I will wish for a Sinner Medvedev final with Sinner to win… I am that much against the other two fucktards… GROSS…

On the Lady Draw… oh kids… that poor 19 year old… Yastremska (UKR) just POWERED her way into a semifinal and became the first qualifier into the semis at the AO since 1978 where qualifier, Christine Matison reached the same place… Noskova (CZE) didn’t know how to react to how punishing the strokes that were coming off the Ukrainian’s racket… it was pretty hard to watch… but, she put up a bit of a fight 6-3, 6-4 was the result… 19 winners for Yastremska to 6 from Noskova… and they were only off by 2 on the unforced errors… that about sizes up the situation… Later and I haven’t see the match we saw Zheng (CHI) defeat Kalinskaya (RUS) in three sets… well again, I didn’t see – maybe you did…. Zheng shot off 10 aces to the Russians 2… 42 winners to 18… which truly is deafening when you see that… BANG goes the gun… so, it will be a SLUGfest tomorrow (well 12:15 am), both matches will be a joy to watch… Regardless of who wins… it will be a good time… Two former grand slam champions and 2 potential new finalists… talk about some amazing opportunities and some great tennis…

For you on the women’s side… Kresimir takes 10 more points for Zheng’s win… yeah, not really sorry about that – you would all be laughing at me now if it was a Swiatek / Rybakina semifinal… so… I will take my win and say, up your bum! Nothing changed today aside from that… I do still want Gauff to the final… but I don’t dislike Sabalenka… she is a bit misguided on some things… but, she doesn’t deserve the hate because of her country and their choices… I am sure there is some fear of retaliation if she was to say something against the government… such fucked up shit honestly… I am not going to post the scores right now… It just doesn’t feel right…

On the Men’s side… there hasn’t been any change… Dan is still in miserable last because Hurkacz didn’t cross the line and everyone else had Medvedev so, the standings remain… Eric has the only points to the final on the bottom half of the draw with Medvedev and the rest of us have a Sinner/Djokovic choice to get to the final, win AO… so, still up for grabs… but, all of those who had Alcaraz, whomp whaaaa!!! (Rob, James and Kresimir) Sinner is still in this (Len and Dan) and Djokovic could also pull it off (Eric) so… I will have better thoughts after Friday’s Match, GO SINNER!!!

I am sure that someone’s mouth is watering with that thought… it isn’t me… In case you don’t know… they’re cookies, biscuit… Ok, off to the tennis… Djokovic took four sets to take down #12 Fritz (USA) 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2, 6-3… that small hiccup may cost him the title; although Sinner finished up about 6:30 am PST… so… that was a late match… Between the first lady’s match (3 hours and 8 minutes) and Djokovic’s match (three hours and forty-five minutes) it pushed everything back a bit… and Sinner took down #5 Rublev (RUS) 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-3 (two hours thirty-nine minutes)… and they matched in winners but Rublev had 8 more unforced errors and 12 points short of the Italian… It was a very tough match all in all… just very small margins… issue was also that Rublev LOST it… yet again… He has been to ten quarterfinals… just never crossed the line… and we have the first two through to the semifinals… GO SINNER!!! (It’s my own internal monologue)…

On the women’s draw… things are exactly as everyone predicted… so YAY for EVERYONE!!! Gauff started off the day with her match-up against Kostyuk (UKR)… a really good match… and in the end the American took the match 7-6(6), 6-7(3), 6-2… Coco was up 5-0 in the final set and I think she just took the pedal off the gas and got broken… but, next time up at bat she put the hammer down and got done… I think Kostyuk is an AMAZING tennis player… and she took it to Coco… Kostyuk had 39 winners to Coco’s 17 and they were very cose in unforced errors 56 (UKR) to 51 (USA)… and over all Coco had 6 more total points won even though the score was a bit uneven in the end… a lot of forced points by both players and they were smacking the shit out of the ball… the level of the players varied back and forth… and in the end… Gauff takes the win… It is interesting to see that Gauff won more points with under 8 shots (109-95) and if it was 9+ Kostyuk was winning more of those point (25-17), but this game was SO tight… and a really good one… Sabalenka ousts #9 Krejcikova (CZE) in straight sets and 1 hour and 11 minutes 6-2, 6-4… She looks very solid and is seeking to defend her title here… I really believe the “final” is when these two clash tomorrow night… It is going to be very fun to watch… Hopefully Gauff is recovered and gives us a match… But, Sabalenka is SOLID off the ground and will be a tough one to beat… Sabalenka won 72 percent of her first serves and 53 percent of her second… (55/20 to the Czech player)… 20 winners to 6 and 13 unforced to 24… I mean… do I need to say more? Probably not… So, we will move on…

For you lovely people… Kresimir continues to dominate the women’s draw and will take the title… Dan will follow up and Rob has third locked up…. Everyone has Gauff to the final and Kresimir has Gauff to win… so, there is no catching him… If Gauff goes down… Kresimir does have Zheng points (10) from the top half if she beats Kalinskaya (who sounded pretty confident on court after her win)… We shall see early on this morning as their match will start at approximately 12:15 am…

On the Men’s draw… Len continues to lead the draw with Eric close at hand… Kresimir has pulled ahead of Rob because Mr. Strong made an nice try pick with Rublev over Sinner and sadly, for him, it didn’t pay off… Please note that Eric has the most different picks to the final with Medvedev and that could result in a win, depending on who his opponent is… Dan has the only odd semifinalist who can get through with Hurkacz over Medvedev… so that could propel him upward… it really is anyone’s win and it will all depend on the results as they roll in… I don’t think I can even make accurate predictions because my brain is TOO foggy… but, I know it is VERY exciting… Good luck to all of you…

Well we finished up the fourth round and looking forward to the quarterfinals… I will go through each match even if it was already covered yesterday… just to be that annoying one… 

We will start with the Men and Djokovic has a secure win over #20 Mannarino (FRA) 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-3… the comment made was that Mannarino’s inablilty to win a gamewas bothering him to the point of distraction. ”I really wanted to lose that game in the third set because the tension was building in the stadium.” Yes, it was building because just about every person in there despises you… Anyway… Fritz over #7 Tsitsipas (GRE) in four sets 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-3, 6-3… Sinner takes out #15 Khachanov (RUS) 6-4, 7-5, 6-3… Rublev takes out hometown hero #10 de Minaur (AUS) in five sets 6-4, 7-6(5), 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-0… based on the score Rublev was in every set just wearing him down… the unseeded players who made a stand were all eliminated first Hurkacz took out Cazaux (FRA) 7-6(6), 7-6(3), 6-4… Medvedev ousts Borges (POR) in four sets, 6-3, 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-1… Zverev took five and a tie breaker in the fifth to take down #19 Norrie (GBR) 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(3)… remember there is a 10 point tie breaker in the final set if they reach a tie break… Alcaraz made quick work of Kecmanovic (SRB) 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 (BAGEL)… and that rounds out the men’s draw…

and YAWN… Djokovic knocks out #3 Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6(4), 7-6(5) and the smug face points to his head, heart and balls… so over him… but a win is a win… he even had 22 emblazed on his trophy acceptance jacket… trashbox…

Sabalenka took down #22 Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and raises her first trophy… Sabalenka served 17 aces to Rybakina’s 9 along with 9 double faults to 1 for Rybakina… 51 winners to 31 winners for Rybakina… and unforced was 28 for the champion and 25 for the runner-up… seriously such a good match… and congrats to this White Russian…

The Brazilian mixed duo of Matos and Stefani took down Bopana and Mirza of India 7-6(2), 6-2 and the player of the match was Mirza… she was AMAZING on the court and this was her slam retirement… She has won three doubles majors and the final at the French and mixed doubles for three of the four and a semifinal at Wimbledon… I mean… come on… she has left a very nice doubles legacy… She will be missed…

Men’s Doubles have another Aussie pair winning this year with with Hijikata/Kubler taking out Nys and Zielienski 6-4, 7-6(4)…

Junior girls have a winner in Jamrichova and Urgesi (Slovakian and Italian) take out the Japanese pair of Kinoshita and Saito 7-6(5), 1-6, [10-7]

The American duo of Tien and Williams took out the number 1 seeds of Blockx and Fonseca (Belgium and Brazil) 6-4, 6-4…

Speaking of the boys juniors… Blockx and Tien faced off in the boys final and Blockx took the trophy 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(9)…

Girls singles was won by Korneeva over Andreeva in 3 hours and 18 minutes?!?!?! wow… 6-7(2), 6-4, 7-5…

Ok.. there were some other winner and losers… Schroeder and Vink of the Nederlands beat Ramphadi and Silva 6-1, 6-3 in the quad wheelchair final… Hewett and Reid of the UK beat Scheffers and Spaargaren 6-1, 6-2 in Men’s Wheelchair doubles finals… and De Groot and Van Koot take the women’s doubles trophy 6-3, 6-2 over Kamiji and Zhu of Japan and China… yet again these Dutch women keep winning… De Groot also beat Kamiji in the women’s wheelchair final 0-6, 6-2, 6-2… I wonder if she got an espresso??? I mean… maybe it did help… Hewett over Oda in the Men’s wheelchair final 6-3, 6-1… and Schroder took out his fellow Dutch player Vink in the Men’s Quad Wheelchair singles match 6-2, 7-5…

Holy shit… this thing is almost over?!?! How did that happen… Well, it happened… So… we have two matches to report… Rybakina took down #24 Azarenka 7-6(4), 6-3… it took one hour and forty-one minutes… and if I see the stats… the biggest stand out was losing the point on the second serve… Azarenka was only 22%… the winners to unforced isn’t too telling… 30/21 for Rybakina and 26/27 for Azarenka… it just was too much for her and Rybakina is going for another slam… and she will face, Sabalenka, whotook out the unseeded Polish player Linette who made her first semifinal…. good for her… and that marches Pornsak one step closer to a win on the Lady Draw… the score was 7-6(1), 6-2… the winners to unforced DEFINITELY tell a story here… Sabalenka 33/25 and Linette was 9/16…. you have to play a cleaner game if you are going to make it to the final… So… that is how that day was written!

Well… we are now moving forward to the semifinals and the quarters are DONE!!! Djokovic took down #5 Rublev 6-1, 6-2, 6-4… I wonder if ass wipe was angered about not finishing 1, 2, 3… but… who knows… Paul needed four sets to take out fellow compatriot Shelton 706(6), 6-3, 5-7, 6-4… I will say that Paul’s backhand is so sharp… The Lady draw was quite clear also with both matches being completed in straight sets… #30 Pliskova bows out of the tournament to Linette 6-3, 7-5… Linette was very clear with her game plan and it worked… and she is going up against Sabalenka who knocked out Vekic of Croatia 6-3, 6-2… and that gets us to today… Rybakina v. I cannot say that Rublev dominated #9 Rune… but, he did win… sadly, not too long of a match… just a bit over 3 hours… 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(9)… and yawn… Djokovic took down #22 de Minaur 6-3, 6-1, 6-2… yay him… Shelton took five sets to take out Wolf of the US… 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-2… in just under four hours… Paul takes out #24 Bautista Agut of Spain… and that rounds out the top half of Khachanov/Korda & Tsitsipas/Lehecka…

For the ladies… Pliskova took out #23 Zhang of China 6-0 (BAGEL), 6-4… Linette over #4 Garcia from France 7-6(3), 6-4… Sabalenka over #12 Bencic from Switzerland 7-5, 6-2… and Vekic took three sets to take out the seventeen year old Fruhirtova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 1-6, 6-3… and they join Rybakina/Ostapenko & Pegula/Azarenka… sounds like fun to me!

Well… Len is in a not so solid second place… with several of you crawling up his spine.. and well… that is a good time… Kresimir is still in the lead and Rob… it’s true… you are in miserable last… and after making death threats to the commissioner…. hmmm… is this going to do well for your poor life choices… likely not… but… you still have Swiatek as your winner… only three of you do… and that is worth 30 points… at the end… if that comes to fruition… so, who fucking knows…

Well we have a draw at the top with Dan and Kresimir… and just back is Len and Pornsak… so, it is anyone’s game… but Rob… you are the Kween of the bottoms… yep… you heard it here first… CONGRATULATIONS… now I am excited to see how long you last there… I know some thirsty people who want that crown…

So… let’s see… heat wave… not a lot of tennis played… next day came the rain… and they caught up… but I will tell you this… You are going to have some TIRED men out there… It is insane… but, hopefully that is the end of the weather issues and we can move straight on to the finals…

Here’s what you need to know… #1 Nadal loses to McDonald of the USA in straight sets… #13 Berrettini is out to Murray of the UK.. #19 Kyrgios pulled out with a knee injury… Kudla of the USA is going to replace him and he won his match… so you all get that point… Goffin pulled out also and his replacement won… so if you got that one… you get that point… #32 van de Zandschulp lost to Griekspoor in straight sets…

#8 Kasatkina is out to Gracheva in double 6-1s… #21 Trevisan lost to Schmiedlova… #14 Haddad Maia lost to Parrizas Diaz in the battle of the names… and a reminder that Haddad Maia is going to be gone for awhile due to a drug charge… unless it gets overturned… #31 Kanepi is out to Birrell of Australia… a very good match if you didn’t see it… #15 Kvitova is also out to Kalinina and #32 Teichmann is also out to Zhu of China….

and now we’re here… and what a crazy rollercoaster ride it has been… and now it is over… #1 Djokovic takes the trophy from #4 Medvedev… it wasn’t great tennis from either of them… but, the Russian either couldn’t get the ball over the net or couldn’t consistently get it between the lines… It was a bit meh… 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 and done… so… here is your picture… seems appropriate…

So, congrats to him on his 9th Aussie Open Title… that is no easy feat… so, while I am sure he would love for me to bow down and make a statement of we’re not worthy… we are… we are fine and we are worthy… you’re still an ass…

Men’s Doubles also played out and the team of #9 Dodig & Polasek beat defending champions #5 Ram and Salisbury of the US of A and UK respectively… I had previously stated Polasek was from Serbia and I need glasses… he is from Slovakia… so, a Slovak and a Croat walk into a bar… and they win the Australian Open Men’s Doubles Trophy!!! so, there… 6-3, 6-4…

now… hold up… I also misreported how the end would be… I stated that if Djokovic won… Len would pull up to third with Dik in second… SCREEEEEECH!!!! need new tires now… Kresimir had pulled ahead too much for either of them to beat him… so, while Eric takes the lead and the win… In BOTH Men’s & Women’s Draws… it is important to note that Kresimir takes second… Dik in third and Len in fourth… oh, right… there was only a bit of hope for Rob… but, that has waned and he loses miserably by 2 points… but, still miserable last…

No matter how small of a group we were, we still came, saw and well, some of us conquered… namely Eric… who doesn’t watch tennis and did NOT pick #1 to win in both… and made some really good decisions… very proud of you!!! ok, he watches a bit of the tennis…

and… we are at the near end of the tournament and it has been a pleasure to have this moment with you… #5 Tsitsipas was just not there for the semifinal against Medvedev and the Greek takes a seat in a 6-4, 6-2, 7-5 decisive match against the Russian… so it is Russia v. Serbia in the final… no, it isn’t a team sport… it is Medvedev v. Djokovic… and 3 of the five of us have this prediction of the final… Eric, Rob, & Kresimir… Len, you did not… but you still have Djokovic to win… as does dik… what a dick… Eric has Djokovic and Rob & Kresimir have Medvedev… so… who’s it going to be??? They are both great defensive players who take defense and turn it into offense… Djokovic leads their head 2 head match up 4-3 to Djokovic but their last meeting was at the ATP Finals where Medvedev took him down 6-3, 6-3 and went on to win the title… so, there is that… last and only meeting at a major was the 2019 Aussie Open where Djokovic took it in four sets… so… there is also that… who is the better in 3 out of 5 today… and Medvedev looks strong… Djokovic has an “injury” but, he doesn’t seem hampered… so… fuck you and your silly little injury… trashbox!!!

Mixed Doubles has a winner in #6 American Ram & Czech Krejcikova who defeated wild card Ebden & Stosur 6-1, 6-4 both of Australia… what a great match for the winners… broke them straight out the gate and didn’t seem to look back… Krejcikova was amazing on serve and never dropped… she was solid at the net and the baseline… terrific play!!!

In a relatively meh of a match… #3 Osaka WINS the 2021 Australian Open Title defeating #22 Brady from America…. it was a 6-4, 6-3 win for the Japanese player and the fourth Grand Slam to her trophy case… interestingly… she won the US Open and back it up with the Australian Open… then, umm… she did it again… well… don’t expect anything amazing at the French or Wimbledon for this lady… Osaka, once reaching the quarterfinals has never lost a final… .how is that for a statistic!!! Wait for Wimbledon… I predict that stat will change… she has a game that can translate to grass… clay, that will take a while… but for now… she is our QUEEN!!! and godzilla has her appendix out… and isn’t a reigning anything… so… ptooey…

Now for you… and you all… what do you think happened… ERIC IS OUR QUEEN OF THE NIGHT!!! and Congratulations to YOU!!! Len you take a gracious second… (I am sure it is gracious <eye roll>) and well a great beginning… you kicked EVERYONE down the street with your picks… but in the end… the big numbers come from the big winners… Kresmir is third with Rob edging Dik out for miserable last… so… see, it doesn’t pay to pick 1,2,3,4 to the end… yet again… well… at least on the lady side of things…

On the Men’s side… it is defined by the winner… Eric, Dik & Len are 1,2,3 if Djokovic wins… Rob in miserable last… and Kresimir & Rob win first and second with the three of the others in that line up if Medvedev wins… so… here we go… I think I hear a rumble…

well… wow… that was a quick end to some finalists… Osaka was defiant on her win over #10 Williams… it was a drop of set in the first and then steam roll to the finish line… she never looked back… sure, Serena made a lot of errors, 24 to be exact… however with only 12 winners… there is no way it is going to be a good game for you… Osaka had 21 unforced to 20 winners and converted 100% of her break point chances… that is some clean tennis people… and sets up the obvious choice for a winner this year… although she still does need to get through Brady… no, not Tom… she took down #25 Muchova of the Czech Republic… it was more intense than one would believe… side note, Muchova was cooled down during her medical time out… umm… isn’t that a conditioning issue??? not an injury??? ridiculous… she should NOT have been able to cool down as a medical time out… Barty should have taken that match… just for that… but, they have their rules… so… whatever… Brady did take her out, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4… and the American is going up against the American er… Japanese Player… I like Osaka… she is humble and sweet and a fierce competitor…

So that will leave Eric to sweep the ladies draw… that thing is a SHAMBLE!!! Seriously… but for now, Len is still in the lead… however, Eric is just back by 7 points, Kresimir will take third… Rob claims fourth and little dik cheese is last… miserable last… by THREE points!!! the world is so cruel…

One match was played on the Men’s side of the draw and that was the qualifier from Russia, Karatsev who took on world number one Djokovic and well, Djokovic did not disappoint… in one hour and fifty-three minutes it was done 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 and Djokovic is through to the final… who he will meet is determined TONIGHT!!! well, pacific time it will start at 12:30 am… so… hmmm… that sucks… well… I guess that is what Friday morning is for… kidding… maybe… anyway!!!

No shift in the Men’s draw for you because EVERYONE had Djokovic to the final… Kresimir is still in the lead with Eric just back five points… Rob is holding in at third with Dik just one back… Len, you are in miserable last… but, Djokovic hoists that trophy and well… you will take second… Rob and Kresimir need Medvedev to win tonight to even make it interesting… so, you know this house is a ROCKING!!! GO MEDVEDEV!!! who thought I would ever say that about Boris… or Natasha… well… here it is…

Men’s Doubles produced one Finalist in #9 Dodig & Polansek who took out the #2 Mektic and Pavic… three of the four are from Croatia and Polansek is from Serbia… I am sure that was a very quiet match with regard to strategy… 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to the mixed duo… and in mixed doubles one team moved forward to the final… #6 Krejcikova & Ram over the Aussie wildcard duo of Sanders & Polmans 6-3, 6-3… so… not a bad pay day for them… The British doubles team of #1 Hewett & Reid hoisted the trophy over #2 Houdet & Peifer of France 7-5, 7-6(3)… seen below… and the Nederlanders #1 De Groot & Van Koot take out #2 Montjane of South Africa & Shuker of the UK 6-4, 6-1 to claim the title…

Oh and the quad singles was again won by #1 Alcott of Australia… over the unseeded Schroder of the Nederlands… 6-1, 6-0… and #1 Alcott & Davidson of Australia claiming the Quad Doubles title 6-2, 3-6, (10)-(7) in the final set tiebreaker over #2 Lapthorne of the UK & Wagner of the US of A… super congrats to them…

Well on to tomorrow… I am sure it will be SO much fun… and remember.. GO MEDVEDEV!!! oh, that was out loud… in my head it didn’t sound so condescending… oh well, suck it up buttercup…

Well kids.. it was a bit tragic for a few… I mean… eek… Medvedev only needed 2 hours and 5 minutes to dispatch #7 Rublev of Russia… 7-5, 6-3, 6-2… they looked tired after almost every point… not too many aces (14 & 8) but the amount of hits per side was ridiculous…. they never really go the other off balance… it was quite a good match… but with 20 winners and 39 unforced for Rublev and 30 to 33 for Medvedev… well, that’s a pretty solid showing for the world number four… Tsitsipas grabs his first win over #2 Nadal in a four hour and 5 minute five set match 3-6, 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-4, 7-5… wow!!! Both with unbelievable numbers 49 winners to 38 unforced for the Greek and 58 winners to 42 unforced for Nadal… Nadal broke 3 of 4 times and Tsitsipas broke 2 of 5 times… so, it was some really clean tennis and a win by MARGINS!!! right shot at the right time…

oh Barty, Barty, Barty… #1 Barty from Australia is out of the tournament to Muchova… she took the match in three sets… 1-6, 6-3, 6-2… after the first set Muchova took a medical time out… something was hindering Muchova and she didn’t seem to fully recover… but, neither did Barty… Barty had 6 winners to 6 unforced in the first set… and 21 winners to 37 unforced… seriously… they were mostly unforced… Muchova had 17 winners to 33 unforced… there was nothing but mental issues on the Aussie’s side… there was no reason she lost other than herself… in another 3 setter Brady takes down her fellow American Pegula 4-6, 6-2, 6-1… I think that Pegula had a tougher draw and was a bit worn down… they both had low winners 22 & 15 respectively to the winner and loser and unforced errors of 29 & 32 which really is the bigger stat… just less errors… but it was a good match… and Brady comes out on top…

In Doubles action… #2 Mertens & Sabalenka send off #4 Melichar & Schuurs 7-5, 6-4 to reach the final against #3 Krejcikova & Siniakova who defeated unseeded Jurak & Stojanovic 3-6, 6-2, 6-4… so it is #2 vs #3… Interestingly enough Rajeev Ram of the US of A is in both semifinal doubles for Men’s and Mixed… that would be a great feat if he can win both!!! Wheelchair singles winner is Gerard of Belgium who took down the British Hewett 6-0 (BAGEL), 4-6, 6-4… #1 DeGroot of the Nederlands took out #2 Kamii of Japan to win the women’s wheelchair title 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(10)…

Yes… some very fun tennis thus far… and more to come!!! For you… we have a new leader on the men’s draw… Kresimir has pulled his ass up and planted it firmly in first place… Eric is close behind and Rob has jumped up to third…. Dik is in fourth and Len… you are now in miserable last… so… there!!! well… you still have your lady draw… but I love the bold pick of Rublev to the FINAL… made me smile… it is going to come down to this… IF Medvedev wins… Kresimir will win… If Djokovic wins… Eric will win… if neither of them make the final… Kresimir wins… If Djokovic wins… Len will take second… if Medvedev wins… Rob will take second… so… well, that’s a conundrum… as you can see… or read… or both…

On the lady side of things… Kresimir and Dik have no more points to gain… so, we are rooting for whatever will help us… so GO BRADY… GO MUCHOVA!!! ok… not really… I see that Serena OR Osaka are going to be the heavy favorites… but Len you are in the lead with a Serena win, you will win… with an Osaka win Eric will overtake you IF Osaka takes the title… but, honestly – we all want to see 24, right??? so GO SERENA!!! Kresimir will lose to Rob if Serena wins her match… so… miserable last.. here I come…

well sugar… ah… honey honey… well here we are at the quarterfinals… starring down the top players of the past week and a bit… I think they haven’t done too terribly… we have, but them… it’s exciting… right??? Osaka wasted no time in her defeat of Hsieh of Taiwan 6-2, 6-2… It was an amazing night for Osaka hitting 24 winners to 14 unforced opposed to 14 and 23 respectively for Hsieh… now… we have a battle… because Serena knocks off #2 Halep 6-3, 6-3… The Romanian broke three times and Serena took 6 of her games… so… with 24 to 33 winners to unforced and 9 to 19… seriously… that is a LOT of errors on both sides… I don’t see that with Osaka… so, shoulder shrug…

Both men’s matches went to four sets… with Karatsev taking down #18 Dimitrov… there were definite issues with the Bulgarian’s back as he was serving 50 mph softballs to Karatsev in the third… injury time out… and not enough to make it work… 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2… all the while the MacInroe duo are yapping how Dimitrov is going to clean the floor with Karatsev… well… I didn’t think so… and well, I was right… the only thing I wasn’t right about was #6 Zverev losing to Djokovic… now, I picked Djokovic from the beginning to the final… but, I thought that MAYBE the German would grow up a bit and make it happen… 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(6)… and we are done…

For YOU… well you are doing better… Len is still stomping on the world with his selections and Eric is in the hunt for second… well… maybe first… if Osaka wins… Kresimir has Barty for the title… so, that could put him closer to a better finish… Rob is next with Dik in miserable last… so, it is anyone’s game… still…

Here is where someone is going to get choked out of the competition… we are all pretty close together… so it will be these last moments… Nadal v. Tsitsipas… and Medvedev v. I don’t really agree with that – I think a sprinkling of hate and vitriol gets one some place… even if it is the back of the line… couple of retirements/walkovers… Tsitsipas over the Italian #9 Berrettini in a walkover (abdominal strain)… not one point played… I was looking forward to that one :(… and Tsitsipas will take on Nadal as he KRUSHED KANDY!!! #16 Fognini is out… 6-3, 6-4, 6-2… I guess Nadal’s back is feeling just fine… Medvedev is through over McDonald… and he is on his way back to the farm… can you say hi to a couple of our pets please??? I hear they are there… thanks!!! 6-4, 6-2. 6-3 and out goes the last American man… Rublev was up against #24 Ruud of Norway and he just couldn’t put it together in the first two sets… so he retired… honestly I didn’t know until I went to bed that match had ended in a retirement (stomach muscle injury)… 6-2, 7-6(3) and 0-0 to Rublev… so two weak stomachs and the top seeds march through… hmmm… who called that???

On the Lady side of things… Muchova took down #18 Mertens… (I didn’t make THAT call)… 7-6(5), 7-5 and the Belgian is out of the tournament…. she can now focus on her doubles with Sabalenka… Barty over Rogers of the US of A… 6-3, 6-4… obviously Barty has improved her form and is back to slaying… Brady over #28 Vekic… 6-1, 7-5… it was looking tight for the American; however she pulled it out after the Croatian had to take a medical time out for her knee… the last game was a joke and Brady said afterward she served her best in the last game… umm… Vekic couldn’t/didn’t move… so… I will chalk that up to not really paying attention to the other side of the Court… and she wrote “Bring it Jess” on the camera with a smiley face… hmmm… that can only mean that Pegula takes down the Ukrainian #5 Svitolina in a three set match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3… so… she isn’t happy… give her a hug Monfils!!!

Off to the races… on the men’s side everyone slides forward 20 points… so… no changes in the results.. also, we all have too many possibilities for points through to the end that it makes sense to hold off… Eric, Len, Kresimir, Dik, Rob… that is the line-up… she what you can get from the below…

On the lady side… Len is still in the lead way in the lead… Eric is next with Kresimir then Rob and Dik in miserable last… but this thing could shake rattle and roll… points are what you can get through to the final IF all your picks make it through… e.g. Len has Serena for the win… so that is 50 points… Barty to the Final for 30 and Osaka to the semis for 10… so he can make a total of 90 more points… the rest of you have different through for points… so, add up and start cheering!!!

well… that is what we have on a quarterfinal Tuesday!!! so exciting… of course I want Serena to get 24… most people do… but, I see a lot of obstacles… so… here are my predictions for today… Serena over Halep… still not Halep’s best surface and unless she plays like she did at Wimbledon 2019, Serena will be meeting… Osaka over Hseih… I don’t know if the Tawaineese player will have enough in the tank to completely disrupt Osaka… but, anything can happen and Hseih has a win over Osaka… so, doubt is always there… I am going out on a limb and saying that Zverev will reach the semis over Djokovic… the Serb does have a small issue in his stomach… and it looks as if it could hinder him over time… The Serb has struggled much more on his serve than the German… so, Germany it is… Karetsev goes to a semifinal… I think this guy has ice veins… he doesn’t care who he stomps on to get there… no one saw him coming and I think taking down Dimitrov will be a task he is up for the taking…

Happy VD… hope you get some!!! My predictions did not ALL come true… but, it was fun to see if I could get any of the 50/50 options right… Let’s start with one I did get right… Osaka over #14 Muguruza…. for me, this was an odd match… it seemed like Osaka was just there for the first set… and most of the second… she just happened to win the second… in the third, the tennis was ok… I wasn’t jumping out of my seat or not going to the bathroom as needed… meh… Osaka through in three sets over the Spaniard 4-6, 6-4, 7-5… Hsieh over Czech #19 Vondrousova 6-4, 6-2… this is her FIRST grand slam singles quarterfinal appearance… she looked SO excited when she won… the Czech… not so much… she was angry… but that is what she can do to you… disarm and immobilize… Halep needed three over Poland’s #15 Swiatek… I was hoping for the upstart… but, alas… Halep took her down 3-6, 6-1, 6-4… see you in France… Serena v. Sabalenka… now this was a match… and a hard hitting one… not that Osaka and Muguruza didn’t hit hard… it just seemed flat… Sabalenka gave everything and then some… kept her composure sometimes and then lost it in others… Serena was pretty mellow for what was going on the court… 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 is the final score to send the Belarussian home so #7 Sabalenka over and out… Good match though… and we will see what happens next!!!

For the Lady Draw… Len is still in the lead… by quite a lot… I think the Osaka/Muguruza Match will be a big one… Swiatek v. Halep also looks good… Look for Serena to go out or actually raise HER game to defeat Sabalenka… I am going out on a limb… Swiatek over Halep… Sabalenka over Serena and Osaka over Muguruza and Vondrousova will put an end to Hseih’s run…. but that is based on how they are currently playing… not how they will play against one another!!! Well Victoria is back in lockdown… the AO has become a bit of a super spreader… so, no more fans… I hope you liked it!!! Halep took down #32 Kudermetova of Russia 6-1, 6-3… maybe she’ll make a run of it after all… She has never been the best on the hard courts… but she’s going to need to get past the one who demolished her at the French Open Swiatek who took care of Ferro of France 6-4, 6-3… I think that might be the match to watch!!! well, actually there are a couple of others… Serena over Potapova after coming out looking like a FOOL on in the first set… she took it 7-6(5), 6-2… the Russian couldn’t serve it out at 5-3 in the first and there were so many errors on this match… honestly… that was enough reason to believe that as amazing and great as Serena is… she has Wimbledon as her only option for a major… because Sabalenka is looking HUNGRY as she defeats a decent player in Li of the USA, 6-3, 6-1… Osaka over #27 Jabeur 6-3, 6-2… The Tunisian didn’t have enough to put a dent in the Osaka serve and it was great play to set up a match against Muguruza who took down Diyas of Kazakhstan 6-1, 6-1 DOUBLE BREAD STICKS!!! now that is going to be the match to watch… fourth round… get that popcorn READY!!! mmm… popcorn… Vondrousova over Cirstea of Romania 6-2, 6-4 and the ONLY three set match on the women’s side saw Hsieh over Errani of Italy 6-4, 2-6, 7-5… that match lasted almost as long as two matches for the others… that girl is going to be TI-RED…

Len is doing better in the Lady draw than all of us in the Men’s draw… nice PICKS!!! Eric is behind a bit… but anything can happen… Rob and Kresimir are still tied… and Dik is bringing up the rear… hmmm…

Anyone nervous??? Rob did lose Azarenka and Barty and Serena are suspect… the rest… not so bad… so… that would leave Muguruza and Osaka as the strongest looking at this point… but, they will fight each other…
